Title: The darkest night...
Eve - December 17, 2003 09:27 AM (GMT)
Eve was not looking for anything in particular when she went venturing through what appeared to be the ruins of an ancient city. Sighing heavily bored with the grounds and the crumbling structures, even though it had only been a few moments of walking. The long black cloak that Eve usually wore flapped behind her as she looked down to her right hand, bringing it closer to her face, turning to rest against a fallen building within the city, admiring the long painted nails. Her eyes glancing down at the large black pearl ring upon her middle finger and apart of her frowned.
Her gaze went to the sky, bored with the scenery around her then cursing the moon for so much light. Every realm had its dark places, but it was not so much fun when there was none to toy with. Her thoughts quickly went from saddened to feeling some small tinge of pleasure as she thought of the manipulation she had done in the past. How each realm had bored her when she arrived. I just have to acquiant myself with the locals is all. I am sure the rest will soon fall into place.
Looking around, she searched the shadowy corners, hoping for some form of excitement. Whether it be a mortal, a God of another creature of the darkness, she did not care. She only wished to liven up the dead night. Her fingertips began to tingle, a shiver running down the back of her spine as she rolled off the wall dramatically, pushing her way through the brokendown ruins. There has to be something of interest here. She once again strode through the ruins confidentally, fluidly. Her posture straight, the sadistic grin crossing her lips yet another time as she made her way to the center of the city.
Athiyk - December 17, 2003 05:34 PM (GMT)
Athiyk rode Rosa into the ruins. She had been riding most of the day and she was tired and decided that the village was too far off to make it in the dark, and although the ruins wasn't exactly the safest place to sleep for the night, it was better than in the open. Nizzré flew overhead, a lighter shadow against the dark sky. Sometimes the moonlight would reflect off his gray scales and Athiyk would be able to see her friend clearly, but he mostly stayed in the darkness. He wanted to call some rainclouds, but Athiyk had told him not to and that it would make her trek even more difficult. He was frustrated by this, but did not disobey. Erthe trotted alongside the unicorn, sometimes running ahead and smelling the air. The winter wolf had become even more cautious as soon as they entered the ruins.
Athiyk shivered, having the feeling that it was a bad idea to come to the ruins. They were dark and jagged looking, threatening and evil, which was strange because Athiyk had visited the ruins before and never had she felt such a foreboding darkness it was as though an unseen evil lurked nearby and was getting ready to pounce...
Eve - December 17, 2003 07:31 PM (GMT)
Eve walked on, through and around the falling structures in the dark of night. An aura of arrogance surrounded her, seeming as it it consumed her. She walked slowly, the long cloak flapping behind her in the wind, her eyes searching through the darkness and shadows. Someone is here. A sinister grin played upon her face, her eyes glowing even darker if they could from the thrill of a good hunt. She slowed her pace even more, taking careful steps, eye shifting though her head remained still. Watching for whatever it was to come out at her.
And then it was seen. The woman, up ahead with what appeared to be a wolf and a dragon, or something like the two. Damn, I knew I shouldn't have sent them away. This would be of much more pleasure if I had Darkness and Sorrow been here with me. Her eyes narrowed, still creeping through the ruins slowly. Moving in and out of the moonlight of the night, stepping quietly as to not attract any attention.
The sinister grin faded, the emotions left her face as Eve seemed to go rock hard. Her eyes now empty, two black voids upon a pale canvas of skin. She did not bend low, nor did she try to hide herself. Eve walked on with an air of confidence as she neared the woman and her companions. She quickend her pace, long strands of the black hair bouncing free from the trio of confined hair, flying back behind her as she continued on, gaining distance on the woman and being careful not to draw her attention.
Suddenly and rather abruptly, Eve stopped. She was no more than a few feet from the woman who still walked slowly through the crumbling structures in the light of the moon. Watching in the darkness as Eve had done, but her searching was more out of worry and fear. Eve felt a heavily tingling run down her fingertips then felt nothing as they went numb. Hands on hips she stepped out, cocking her hips slightly, giving off a dramatic attitude she hissed at the traveler that had foolishly passed along her way.
Do you always walk alone, in the middle of the night through dark places? An eyebrow had raised, her eyes still looking like the dark masses of emptiness that they were. A sadistic smirk pulled at the right corner of her soft blue-gray lips as she waited for the woman to answer.
Athiyk - December 18, 2003 04:01 AM (GMT)
Erthe immediately bristled, but Athiyk had already noticed the woman. She showed no surprise on her face and her eyes narrowed. "I am a Drow. It is my nature to do so," adding a smirk of her own. Although she was a Drow, she was not evil and she had dedicated herself to the Goddess Laoura, as both a creature of Chaos and Good. Athiyk disliked vampires, seeing them as leeches of the world.
"And I am not afraid of the dark," she looked up at the moon for a moment, then looking back down at the demon.
Eve - December 18, 2003 04:23 AM (GMT)
Eve could see it in the woman's eyes, what she was thinking. Vampire, naive woman. She knows nothing of me now pretends to know every detail. A deep laugh erupted deep inside her. It was so loud inside her mind, she was sure that Athiyk could have heard, but when her dark soulless eyes studied Athiyk she knew that it was only her mind toying with her once again.
She had been sniffing at the air. Something did not smell right and she was sure that it was the woman in front of her. It was obvious that this woman in front of her was one form of drow or another, but she was not like the rest of her kind. No, something was quite different with her.
Eve searched within Athiyk's eyes, which she had found difficult therefore not being able to get a direct look into the woman. Then she spoke again, after Athiyk had finished, just barely cutting off her words, her voice hissed. The question was not if you were afraid of dark places. Her eyes narrowed, giving the woman in front of her a steely look as she remained in her place. It was simply if you always walked alone, in the middle of the night taking a moment to pause examining her left had, the nails shining in the moon light, rubbing one nail clean of a scuff from her journeys through this realm in dark places. It was not if you were afraid. A toying grin appeared as if out of no where.
Athiyk - December 18, 2003 04:44 PM (GMT)
"Forgive me for misinterpreting your question. Yes, I do travel through the dark places of the world at night, mostly because the daylight hours hurt my eyes, even after being on the surface for so many months."
Rosa pawed angrily, the unicorn's horn flaring with a sudden silver light, illuminating the darkness. Athiyk blinked, not expecting such a flash of light and it momentarily blinded her.
"Rosa, xun naut thrityh unless Usstan joros dos ulu. Mir whol natha stath mzild klew'aren lu' xal udos orn inbau doeb d' nindol xuileb xonathull," she said sternly in her own tongue, hoping that the demoness did not know Drow,as the light began to fade. Athiyk didn't know what had caused her mount to do that. She did not trust the demon, but she wasn't expecting to attack unless the need called for it. She remembered that one of her good friends was a demon, Lance... Yet Lance was different. He had left his home in the Abyss and left the ways of darkness. This demoness had not, Athiyk could see it in her blank, lifeless eyes. Athiyk's hand rested casually on Chath, her scimitar of fire.
Eve - December 18, 2003 09:31 PM (GMT)
Her eyes watched Athiyk closely. Though she did not fully understand drow, she did pick up on the words do not attack and ask, then at the end moment. Eve's eyes had only narrowed at the light, she did not act as startled as the woman in front of her had. She had no reasons to run from like, she was not weak like the pathetic race of vampires that would roam through the lands. Drow she shook her head slightly, a smirk crossing her face. Just like those pitiful vampires, light harming their precious eyes as it it was steel or magic. Her eyes rolled slightly then sighed heavily.
You poor creature you. I could continue to interagate you about what it is you are doing above ground. Her voice had almost hissed along the midnight winds, the long fangs on either side of her mouth occassionally catching the moonlit and reflected it. She paused for a moment, her eyes seemed to be harsh, cold as if filled with deep hatred as her glance went from Athiyk to the unicorn that had so viciously tried to attack her without Eve even provocating it. But I see you are not of the drow, or you do not wish to be known as one. Her fingertips regripped her hips, tighter this time. Eve could not help the sensations that slowly seemed to go down her fingers, ending in their tips causing them to go numb. She slowed her breath, trying to control it. Her emotions unwavering, her eyes unchanging. Tell me woman, what are you really? Her hips then cocked to the opposite side, back straight as strands of her hair remained to wiggle themselves free of her hood and into the night winds.
Athiyk - December 19, 2003 09:10 PM (GMT)
Athiyk never once turned away from the other woman's eyes. "I am an Exile. I betrayed my people and therefore, was to be killed, but I got away. I am what Lolth hates even more than the Elves," she said, referrng to the Drow matron goddess, Lolth, also known as the Spider Queen.
"I am also a messenger and a warrior of the Great Goddess of Night, Laoura," she added. Maybe the powers of divinty is why she doesn't sense me as a Drow? Athiyk thought to herself. She truly was a Drow by heritage, but she had recieved the blessing of a goddess and therefore, maybe it had changed her more than she had even thought it to be.
Eve - December 19, 2003 11:00 PM (GMT)
So you are of the drow, gone soft. Pulling away from your true ways. What a pity. She shook her head, tsking the woman in front of her. She realized the creatures were there, looking over at the unicorn giving it a playful snap of the teeth then a glare of pure coldness. Her eyes once again rested upon Athyik. She walked around her slowly, keeping her mind on her, but she let her mind wander. You know, there is a reason your kind had been pushed so far underneath the surface. I am surprised that any of you, especially a woman of your nature, would even dream of coming out to the surface. She had now walked slowly completely around the woman, her eyes hadn't seen her the entire time.
Turning quickly on her heals, she took one step closer to the woman, but her hands remained behind her, she was not attacking. She only sniffed the right side of her, then sniffed the left. She rocked back onto her left foot. Yes, you have lost their scent also. Her eyes looked of some sort of delight, though her face shown through others. Those upon her face were cold and harsh, even hateful. Eve had known many of drow throughout her time, but she had never known one to leave, to venture out of their underground worlds, and actually survive. She found herself intrigued.
Athiyk - December 20, 2003 03:06 AM (GMT)
Athiyk's temper flared and she pulled Su'aco from its sheath in a swift and sharp movement and dismounted. "Perhaps I am braver and stronger than my kin by coming out of my hiding place in the caves of the world Below," Her blue eyes were full of anger and fire that burned with rage. She may have no longer followed the evil ways of her people, but held her pride both as a Drow and as a warrior.
"Do not insult me unless you intend to fight me," she hissed, her weapon held with the point at the demon's face, only inches away, but held steadily with the hand of someone who knew her weapon well.
Eve - December 20, 2003 09:57 PM (GMT)
Eve rolled her eyes, obvoiusly bored with the display from Athiyk. She looked at her, apethetically staring into her eyes. With her right hand, she slowly let it raise, until it touched the tip of the blade. Her sleeve fell down her arm, now baring a pale, slender arm. She forcefully pushed the blade away from her face. Slight irritation covered her face at the sight of the woman before her. I see I was wrong about you. She paused, raising both her arms now to the night sky, the sleeves falling down to her shoulders. Then lowering her arms about chest high, showing Athiyk that she was unarmed.
You are much like those foul beings, attacking those that are unarmed. She shook her head. Tsking Athiyk. I had thought that you might of been different, but now I see you are just masquerading around, pretending that you have changed, when you haven't. Her head lowered, she seemed to pout as she looked up to the woman, looking at her through dark eyelashes.
Shaking the face away, she stood up once more. Hands lowered to either side. So you think you want to attack. Do so. Her arms rose out from her sides, palms out, the tips of her nails just barely showing out of the sleeves, shimmering in the moonlight. Attack an unarmed woman, in the middle of this night, where clearly none can see. Her eyes for a minute seemed to become engulfed by flames, though it could have been a trick of the night. There was no facial expression upon her face, but Eve was laughing inside, waiting for Athiyk to make her next move.
Athiyk - December 20, 2003 11:57 PM (GMT)
"That was a warning, although I should strike you down. And do not twist my words. You are asking to be attacked, do not dar deny it," her eyes flashed angrily. Rosa threw her head angrils and pawed the ground, wanting to charge forward herself, sensing the tension in Athiyk's voice. She let the scimitar drop a little, but did not sheath it.
Eve - December 21, 2003 08:47 AM (GMT)
A sickening smile crossed her pale gray lips. I do not twist words that are quite clearly spoken. Her arms still at her sides as she stood straight, her pompous attitude still heard within her words. Her eyes did not release Athiyk's, even with her companions stirring as if they were to attack. Eve waited for the moment, the moment when they would strike. Watching Athiyk's eyes, also waiting for her to move. If you are going to attack, do so now, or sheath your weapon. You see that I am unarmed, do not try to intimidate me.
Her fingertips began to tingle once more, something burning inside them. It was something she could not control, even if she had tried. Her hands began to shake beneath the large loose sleeves of the cloak. The red painted nails that had once shimmered in the moonlight now grew duller and darker in color as they harden. Eve prepared to defend herself and attack if she found it neccessary.
Athiyk - December 31, 2003 01:06 AM (GMT)
Smirking, she dropped her weapon's point even further. "I have more honor than that, even though you deserve it, Aterruce od Oloth," she spat, using her own tongue. "If you continue to antagonize me, though, I will strike. Quickly and hard. You should learn not to mess with those who are more powerful than yourself," Athiyk's eyes burned with a fire that was rarely seen there.
Eve - January 3, 2004 02:39 PM (GMT)
[glow=red,3]Eve laughed, more at Athyik than anything else and did not try to hide the fact that she was laughing at the drow. Then do it, harm me if you are so bent on doing so, but you allow yourself to be antagonized
Another sinister smirk laid upon her lips waiting to see what Athyik would do next. It was truely a joy to see her twisted in they way she was. Eve did not fear death, she embraced such things.
As Eve had travelled through many lands, she had grown colder to the world than most, even for her race, she was harsh. She had prided herself on her destruction and manipulation of the lowers, taking great joy in her works.
She watched Athyik's eyes, tilting her head up to allow a clear shot for her as if tempting her, pushing her to her extreme. Looking down over her nose as that was the only choice she was given in this position, but Eve was pleased with the results it would bring. Raising her arms once more, she wiggled her fingers showing that she had nothing in them to defend herself with.
As she wiggled them, the nails were dull in the night lights, even though the bright color of them had pierced the darkness. The smirk did not fade as she stared into Athyik's eyes, standing tall before her, waiting for her next move.[/glow]
Athiyk - January 24, 2004 10:21 PM (GMT)
The scimitar flashed and she scored it across Eve's right cheek. She meant only to leave a cut as a warning. She found herself enjoying hurting the demon, but that sickened her at the same time. Once again it seemed she had given into her Drow nature. She tried to keep it in some apects of her life, but in other, such as the the desire to torment others, she fought.
