Title: Peaceful Times Don't Come Often

sekuda matsinua - January 19, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
The cool water's edge placed a spell over Sekuda as his bare feet were lowered into the crystal clear water. His lowered his back gently into the soft grass at the edge letting him relaxe under the sun's warm rays. Even the wind added to him pleasure. It's breeze gently caressing his body keeping him cool. His arms were place under his head as he rested with his eyes closed. This day seemed utterly peaceful to him. The birds in the trees sung for him, perched in an oak near him.

He began to think about the world, and how terrible it really was. Wars between the nations and races. Theives in the night, killings during the day. "If everyday was like this, there would be no fighting.." he said to himself smoothly. His voice was happy full of energy. A small cloud passed over head, giving the area around him a small moment of darkness as it blotted out the sun.

At that asact moment, he heard a twig snap and he brought his back upright his eyes now opened scaning the forest line around him. "Who's there?" he asked continuing to look around.

Ethstar Solther - January 21, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
Letting loose one of his trademark blinks, Ethstar caught the lying man within his eyes and simply stared. He hadn't even seen the human lying there like that, all covered in the swaying grass and as still as death. He had been daydreaming about random things, yes, but that was still no excuse to go walking about and loose all sense of awareness. Still staring, a couple more moments of silence would pass over the area, Sekuda probably laying eyes on the one who had snapped the twig by now. Almost comically, Ethstar did a quick glance over his shoulder, as if making sure it was really himself who had stepped onto the small branch. Finally, the Fallen Angel let loose a sigh, blowing a puff of air through his lips to blow his bangs out of his eyes. It didn't last very long, the dark strands flying up for a few short seconds, then managing to fall back down again. Letting out a short, experated breath, he finally managed to pull up the words to speak. "I apolgize, milord. I didn't see you there." With a short and sharp bow, the cloaked Fallen performed one of his old habits. To him, it wasn't reaaly a show of respect anymore, or not most of the time at least. Along with sighing, blinking, and the word "milord", it had become one of his many, daily habits. He could count about fifteen people, including himself, that really wanted to get ri of a least one of those habits. Sighing more then the others, for the two forms of politeness came in handy alot of the time. The blinking wasn't really a problem yet, so he could manage to deal with it. Gazing at the man for a few more short moments, he simply studied the being.

Ethstar himself looked like a human, black hair, blue eyes... but awesome beauty ended the similarities right there. A black cloak covered him from the neck down, a sheathed longsword located underneath. A muscled body gave off the impression that he worked out, but actually, he was just naturally in shape. Compared to most of the humans on this Plane of existance, in alot better shape, to say the least. Taking a single step forward, he kept on observing, wondering what the man would do. Usually, Ethstar would be uncomfortable being this close to one of the humans, but since he had regained some of his magic, he had gotten better around them. Right now, his wings were shafeshifted into his back, which had been the main cause of worry. He had been afraid someone would notice them, and call attention. That was one thing he could never have happen, for it would bring down dire consquences.

After studying the man with curious eyes, Ethstar spoke again, his tone questioning and light. "May I ask what you are doing, milord?" It was a puzzle actually. Ethstar had once sat in a field, and simply studied grass. But this man was just lying here, doing nothing whatsoever. Such idleness confused Ethstar, so he expectantly awaited some meaningful explaination.

sekuda matsinua - January 21, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
Sekuda's eyes hommed in on the voice, untill his eyes met up with them to find the culprit o the twig snapping. He quickly got up not knowing what to expect from a dark cloaked male. His instincts told him rogue, while his ears told him otherwise. The man was polite, well polite could be stretched but he wasn't attacking him, or threatening him at least. His eyes scanned him over, not being able to see any weapon on him. He let out a small sigh, relaxing his body and standing up straight. "Hello there sir!" he siad in a bright voice, his head bowed slightly, allowing for a few extra brown hairs to fall forward, not enough to cover his eyes though like the other man.

His head snapped back as he watched the man for a few more moments before responding to his question, though weird as it may be. "I was relaxing" he stated simply, "Why?" he then asked, questioning the male. His head was slightly cocked to one side waiting for a response to his own question. His hand, brushed lightly threw his hair, letting it rearrange it's self while he waited for the man to respond.

Ethstar Solther - January 23, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
Ethstar blinked as the man questioned his motives, his mind instantly pondering the single word question. Why? He had simply been wandering around, thinking about all that had happened to him in the past few weeks. Wandering around, finding several villages, meeting several people... his time had been quite strange, but educating nonetheless. He could remember all of the names of the people he had talked to, for each had impacted him in their own little way. It was strange the way fate seemed to pull people into each others paths, just so the God of Chance could have a good laugh at the events that unfolded. If there even was a God of Chance. Ethstar had pretty much given up on the God's, for he was equally sure these God's had given up on him. With a shake of his head, he pulled his mind from the ponderings of matters above. That had not been the question. "Why? Just wandering I suppose, and I stumbled upon you, and my curiousity was activated. But relaxing does make sense. This is a restful place, don't you think?" The question and answer were stated politely and calmly, not a hint of any other emotion displayed within the simple words. Glancing over toward the lake, he let his gaze get lost within the ripples of water. He had been here once before, with Amy. That was one of the reasons he had come back, to remember the encounter that had been one of the defining moments of his time here. With a slight smile lifting the corners of his lips, the fond memory filled his mind. She had gone swimming, and he had simply watched. Too bashful to take off his shirt, and too worried she would notice his wings if he actually did take off his shirt or go swimming. How could one miss the white, feathery objects? Luckly, he had managed to master hiding them with his shifting spell. Magic, even though he had little, came in handy alot of the time. All of the time actually, according to his experience. Either way, he didn't depend on it too much. It had been ripped away from him once, and he needed to be prepared if it managed to happen again.

Shaking his head to clear it of thought once again, he managed to move on to the next words. "Excuse me, where is my politeness. I am Ethstar." He had gotten comfortable with giving his name, after he had told a few people. It didn't seem to be a strange name, and he wanted to lie as little as possible. Going around with a fake name would probably draw more attention to him then giving his real one. He would be like a outlaw. Actually, he already was, in a way.

Nodding slightly, he stuck out his hand for a handshake, yet another habit. Blinking as he realized this, he glanced down at the hand. He had done it so much, and so hadn't even noticed he was doing it this time. He had yet another strange and annoying habit to add to his list, this time in the same catagory as the 'Milord' and bowing. Oh well. People seemed to react quite well to politeness on this plane. Something worth holding onto, but the blinking and sighing would have to go.

sekuda matsinua - January 23, 2006 10:19 PM (GMT)
Sekuda took a glance down at his hand then to his face. Not many people were as polite as him, never had anyone placed a hand out to shake or even bothered stating their name without him asking for it, which gave him a warm smile. From this politeness he trusted the man instantly, at most times would wait to trust others after such a reason was given. "Hello, my name is Sekuda!" he while his hand grasped his firmly and shook it.

He let go of his hand, the warm smile still on his face. "So Ethstar is it?" he asked looking him over. "Well, it's nice to meet you, where do you come from? Kellen? Or maby Taras?" he asked, while shifting his feet slowly. Ethstar was not the only one with habits. This one he had developed not long after he was able to run. It came from his father who he had always looked to as child.

Everything his father would do he would. From eating a certain thing first to habits he had. Though he was not working on losing his habits. They almost defined how he grew up, and who he was now in a small way, usually only reconizable by his family. Where ever they may be, thats what he had looking for, his family.

He shook his head, pushing away his thoughts of old. Yes old, he has not looked for his family in a long time, he knew he would find them sooner or later on his own. He knows they are still alive somewhere living happily, but not for certain that is only what he beleives. Other tell him these things are only for fairy tales but he thinks other wise, he knows other wise.

Ethstar Solther - January 23, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
Returning the firm shake with a grip of his own, he remembered to modify the strength at which he squeezed. He was stronger then most, that realized when he had managed to lift a human with relative ease. Almost frowning, he remembered the encounter quite well. The human had tried to stab him, which had ended up with Ethstar lifting him up, and slamming him through a table. The man had been knocked unconsious, and the Fallen Angel had only managed to pull more attention to himself. After he had given the fallen man a quick look-over to determine if he was okay, he had left in a hurry. Always trying not to draw attention to himself, but always managing to pull every stare in the room to his being. Watching the man closely, he was suprised to see instant warmth cross the fellow's face. This was something new. Most men either looked at him cautiously, or jealously. He hadn't really figured out either one, but it was nice to see another man finally give him a kind look.

After the handshake was completed, Ethstar returned the man's smile with one of his own, although it seemed to be more polite then genuine. He was pleased at the kindness the man had shown him, but all of his smiles to men had been general politeness. Back in his time with the Celestial Legion, he had never once recieved a genuine and real smile, therefor had never given one back. Even his male friends had never given him one until they had teleported him from the Celestial plane. He was slowly beginning to show real smiles, but this was one of those times he didn't. Completely unaware of it too, sadly enough. The Angel was completely clueless about most matters anyway, so it was commonplace for him.

Hearing the man's question, his face changed to the emotion of worry. He really didn't know how to answer this one, and he really had enough of all of this lying. But this person was a human, and as he constantly reminded himself, they must not know what he was, or where he really came from. Hurriedly forming a lie, he slowly came out with the words, slightly uneasy. "I... Well..." Nearly growling, he inwardly cursed. He had never been good at lying! "Out in the country. In a forest. Never really been to those big towns, only once you see..." That was truth at least, he had only been to those towns a very few times. Interesting experiences, to say the least.

sekuda matsinua - January 25, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
Sekuda still had his warm smile upon his face, allowing the man to see he was not the man who would try to kill another. He had gotten this look a few times, mostly becuase of his size. 6'11" was very high to some people, mostely those who spent their night at the tavern drinking. He never did mind this at the least, it always turned out good in the end. After the shake was done he stretched his hand in secret behind his back. The Celestial Angel's strength was good, even as he hid it. If only Sekuda knew about it he would be amazed. He had always idlized those who were stronger than himself and this was no exception.

"Small town eh? I think the countryside is awsome!" he exclaimed with larger smile spread on his face. This was of course a lie, he didn't mind the country side but he rather stay near the great cities built with larger stables. Ah yes the stables, that was his life. Every town he went to the first place he would go to see, even before the tavern, was the stables. Ever since he was a child that has been his true home. The horses gave him inner strength in a way. They made him more confident in himself that he could work harder for his family and be the strongest of his friends. Sekuda snapped back to reality quickly. Searching his memory for what had just taken place. "So Ethstar what's your towns name? Does it have a stable?" he face was bright with a smile awaiting for this man to answer his questions, and questions to come after.

Ethstar Solther - January 26, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Staring up toward the man, he blinked. Inside his head, his mind was racing yet again for more excuses, racing yet again for a way to get out of torrents of questions. He harbored no ill will toward the man, thought him quite nice and polite actually. But he must not know. No one must know. His own hand would return to the inside of his cloak, the veil once again hiding everything below the neck. Not an arm could be seen, not a finger could be spotted. Silently he would stand there, shifting uncomfortably as he searched for an answer. What was the name of the town? What could he tell the eager human, that the name was "Celestial Plane"? That wouldn't go over very well, Ethstar was completely sure of that.

No surprise would be apparent on Ethstar as he gazed up at Sekuda, the height of the human man not really all that amazing to him. No, he had not seen any other humans that were as tall as this one... but back in the Celestial Plane, there had been quite a few people who towered over him, usually by a good foot. They had been intimidating people... Solars, had that been the official name for them? He couldn't quite remember. He had read a book about the official names of the different Celestial's and Angel's, but hadn't really paid attention. It had been part of one of his classes, so he had memorized the information long enough to use it in a test, then just as quickly had forgotten it. Titles and social status had never interested him. The Celestial's had been satisfied with him bowing his head and using a lot of polite terms, so it didn't really matter anyway.

When the second question came, right after the first, Ethstar's face would brighten a bit. Finally, something he recognized, even if the horses he knew were a little different from the ones here. "Well, actually, we have quite a few stables. Filled with Great white Stallions." Smiling slightly as he remembered the horses, he stopped his description right there. Those horses had been a good deal larger then the ones here, and those horses had flaming eyes. The one horse he had seen on this plane had been a lot different, a smaller size with normal, brown eyes. The question regarding the name of the town went unanswered, pushed to the back of his mind as Ethstar's thoughts filled with the stables. "They are quite nice places. I can't ride, but I loved to take care of them. Are you familiar with the animals?" The bright look on Ethstar's features would turn to one of questioning, the Angel simply waiting for an answer.

sekuda matsinua - January 29, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
Sekuda's face brightened up with an extremely large smile. He was excited that his man had stables in his town, what ever the name was, and that he enjoyed taking care of the Stallions. Then when the opportunity arrived in a question to show how much he was in love with horses he snatched it up. "Horses are my life! Ever since I was just a small little child I have loved them......everyday I would go there and spend some time" he gave a large smile to the man before finishing up; "Some call me a horse freak, but horses make me, well me!"

Even now he could remember the old names people had given to him for his passion. Horsehide, Long Face, Four Legger and more. He had always been picked on for this, but as he grew up he learned to block these names out. Of course everyone has someone that likes to help them, to all they are called a friend and that is just what Sekuda had during those times to help him. Her name was Sara. She had always been there for him, telling others to leave him alone and to play with him when he was at the stables. Sara's parents had worked at the stables and why Sekuda had been able to learn how to ride. They taught him during the day when they had free time and showed him how to care for the horses and much more. Sara had also helped with this for she was a perfect rider. Always able to turn her horse around, win races against him and do all kinds of tricks upon the saddle while ridding. Sekuda had what you may call a crush on her for a few years until he left his village to start out a new life.

Sekuda shook his head, trying again to keep his old memories out of his head. "So Ethstar you still haven't told me what your town's name is?" he gave a smile to him awaiting for him to answer his question which he wanted to know. Sekuda had always had a crave for wanting to know this about other people. Even if he had only just met them.

Ethstar Solther - January 29, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
Nearly smiling himself, he found the ecstatic look on Sekuda's face to be somewhat amusing. The corners of his mouth twitched upwards as the man started to speak of his love for horses, the excited words spilling out of his mouth in a rush. Ethstar simply stood there and nodded, agreeing with what the man had to say. The small smile stayed on the edge of his lips, the gentle face not quite breaking out into the motion of amusement. Not just yet. He was slightly wondering if it would be considered rude to smile at the man's amusing behavior, so part of him was keeping the smile at bay, just it case. As the man took a deep breath and smiled, then went on to finish his sentence, it was all Ethstar could do to not grin. The man's happiness was quite infectious. Yet at the question from Sekuda, the small smile slipped off of his features completely.

Ethstar nearly had to bite his tongue to keep a curse from flowing out of his lips. Is was as if the man was simply good at asking the exact questions that Ethstar did not want him to ask. Inside, his mind was already racing with ideas and possibilities at simple and complex lies. It was something he had recently learned how to do, although it did not change the fact that he was still quite awful at telling lies. He hadn't been one for dishonesty, for he was always taught that it had been the pinnacle of demons and of evil. After he had ran though, he had forsaken all of the teachings. Something inside of him still supported truth and honesty, and that was the thing that seemed to keep him from being able to bluff convincingly. His self-convictions, always getting in his way. The dark thought crossed his mind, the serene look in his eyes nearly flashing to one of anger. Just in time though, he managed to get a hold on his tongue, and spit out the closest thing he could think up. "Celestia." This time, he did bite his tongue to keep the curse in. Celestia? That was probably the worst lie he had told yet. Hopefully, the man wouldn't think of the similarities between Celestial and Celestia.

His cheeks flushing red for a few short seconds, he started to speak yet again, hoping to seem casual and calm. "You probably haven't heard of it." Taking a short stop to try and give the man a reassuring smile, he blustered on again shortly after. "But... may I ask what brings you to this land? Everything has a reason, or so I believe." Pasting a somewhat forced smile on his face, he desperately hoped the man would accept his answers at face value, and then go on to answer the distraction questions. He had some desire to know the answers though, so part of his mind awaited eagerly for the reply.

sekuda matsinua - January 29, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Sekuda did not notice the edging smile upon the man's face as he spoke of his passion for horses. He was just glad to get it done with, without a luagh or harsh words. Then when his question was asked he waited patiently for the man to answer it, though the answer was not one he expected. It was no where near a name he had heard before given to a town and thought it suspicous. Though with the man's politeness he passed it, telling himself he must be from a forgein land of some sort or just in a town with a different name.

He gave Ethstar a poite smile before speaking. "That's a nice name for your village!" he gave a small tilt to his head unsure of if was the right response to his answer. He decided not to wait for his expression to it an went on. He had to take a few moments to think of a good answer to his question. It was not that he had a bad or wrong reason for being here it is just he could not remember why. Then it hit him and he nodded with his own answer. "I decided to live a new life from my old village, and set out for a new life...after travelling for many years I found this land and decided to stay here, for it is very nice indeed" he gave Ethstar another smile, trying to think of anything else he would like to speak of.

(Sorry writer's block >_<)

Ethstar Solther - January 29, 2006 06:06 PM (GMT)
To Sekuda's bright response to the name, he gave yet another inward sigh of relief. "Thank you, I thought so too." He actually thought it was a pathetic name for a lie, but that was not to be spoken. As the nervous feeling went away, the fake smile on his face slipped as well. Almost subconciously, his hidden right hand drifted over to his left hip, touching the hilt of the blade hidden underneath the folds of his cloak. He had started to do this action even more often recently, which was another interesting item he could add to his list of bad habits. The blade was a source of comfort to him, the one thing that had managed to stay with him, and stay true to him his whole life. It was a rather interesting world when he couldn't depend on anything but the blade. Although, now that he thought about it... he actually did have someone who had gained his trust. Amy.

Ethstar gave a short nod as he snapped out of his thoughts, relieved that he had managed to end the questions about his own life. Everyone had them it seemed, and every time he had to think up more lies, and try to act the part of those bluffs. It was really getting to be too much on his soul, but he really didn't have time to care about that right now. He just had to keep forcing onwards, and he just had to keep on surviving. That was the only requirements for this world, and those were the only requirements for his life. Just survive, until he could do something about the crimes that had been committed agaisnt him. For a brief second, his eyes flashed with a strange anger, but it was gone in yet another second.

"Well." Noting the fact that the man was struggling to make conversation, he made a quick desicion in his own mind. The young adult seemed sincere enough, perhaps he could help. It would be an interesting experience for Ethstar anyway, he needed to get used to being with humans. "I was going to Kellen to try and find a job. I need the money for food and board. Would you like to come along?" He offered his proposal with a slight smile back on his face, not the forced one again. This actually was truth, for he was getting somewhat tired of living on the bland mushrooms and berries of the forest. And he was pretty sure he couldn't keep on being so lucky and getting the healthy ones, although he was starting to think he could regonize signs of poison, and signs of health.

sekuda matsinua - January 29, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
"Kellen!" Sekuda exclaimed with glee. "The Great Stables are there....nice place if you don't mind me saying!" his face once more had a large smile on his face, one that would not leave for hours to come. He had always had a thing for Kellen since he had been here in these lands. The great stables always called to him and he always answered. Leaving towns at the moment he had a good memory of Kellen. Now he had a few good ones, not only of the stables but also of the tavern, where he could get the best wine. "Would you like to come along?" was the question he had been waitin for and he lit up at the idea of journeying with this new man to Kellen. Maby he would have some time to meet the horses and get a drink of wine.

"Alright Ethstar, I'll join you..and show you around I've been there a few times and can you help you with getting a job?" he still had his smile on his face as he said this, almost jumping up and down. "Just tell me when you want to go....I have some bread we can share on the way, and there are a few lakes that we can get a drink from along the road...or bush your choice!" he awaited for Ethstar to reply to his question. For an odd reason he had the impression of Ethstar being a bush man, but he did not know and pushed the thought away.

Ethstar Solther - January 30, 2006 02:03 AM (GMT)
Ethstar gave another short nod, and swept himself into a polite bow. After holding the stance for no less then a moment, he straightened gracefully to his normal height. "Glad to have you along, Sekuda." His mouth twitching at the corners yet again, he noted the man's excitement over the stables. The man seemed to be quite interested with the animals. Briefly, Ethstar wondered how the young adult would react if he got a glimpse of the Stallions in the Celestial plane. That would be an interesting sight indeed, and the thought of Sekuda's reaction made the small smile twitch even more. It had been awhile since he had been so amused by something so simple, but the funny human had a good impression on him.

"I am going there now, and will probably walk without resting. I will stop if you need it, but otherwise... we press onwards as much as we possibly can. Understood?" With these words, the look on Ethstar's face grew somewhat stern. He was hoping the human could keep up, for Ethstar's angelic body had much more stamina then the people of this plane seemed to have. He had noted many differences between himself and the humans on his first few weeks in this Plane, and there were quite a few of them, to say the least. Strength and speed, and the ability to keep on going and going. It was interesting, but Ethstar didn't put too much into it. He did have to hide his abilites every now and then, but that hadn't become very difficult. So far, at least. "Thank you for your generosity, I will give you notice if I need anything."

With those last words, Ethstar started off in the direction of Taras, pretty sure he was going in the right direction. He had a bad sense of direction, yes, but he could remember scenery and different landmarks. Eventually, if he kept using his memory for directions, he figured he would gain the sense of direction needed to forget all of the natural landmarks he had accumulated. Once in Taras, he was planning on simply posting up an ad, then waiting in the pub. He had been to it once before, and they had good water.

sekuda matsinua - January 30, 2006 01:22 PM (GMT)
Sekuda quickly started to follow up after Ethstar, a few paces behind him. His eyes wandered around watching the scenery around him. It was a good day today. The sky was nice and blue, with few clouds. The birds were churping in the tress and the wind blew gently across the land giving a cool refreshing feeling. While he enjoyed this moment he tried to recall his memories of travelling to Kellen, to see if they were going in the right direction. He shook his head and quickly cuaght up to Ethstar. He knew they were going in the wrong direction but he wanted Ethstar to figure that out on his own.

At this moment they were heading towards Taras, and their plan was to head to Kellen, which was east from their current position. Sekuda just held a small smile on his face, guessing when Ethstar would figure out which way they were going. If he didn't find out anytime soon he would just tell him, but for now a few clues would have to do. Ah yes clues, and name to game he used to play as a child. The object of the game was to try and figure out what the other person was trying to tell them, but only using clues so that they had to figure out what it was on their own.

"Ever been to Taras?" Sekuda asked looking over at him with the same smile still printed on his face. "It's a nice town...." he slowed his words down slowly before closing his mouth completely so that he could wait for Ethstar's response. While he awaited for it he reached into the inside pocket of his cloak and pulled out a few chuncks of soft bread. "Here, have some...got plently more for the journey ahead..." Sekuda's hand was outstretched with the bread in his hand. THe piece was large enough to last a good ten minutes.

Ethstar Solther - January 31, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
Ethstar really had no clue he was going in the completely wrong direction, he really did think he was doing a fairly good job. For working by memory alone at least. A sense of pride was rising somewhere within the depths of his stomach, his mind letting him believe that he was finally getting the hang of walking around this infernal plane. Glancing at a nearby tree, he nodded to himself, pretty sure that was the one he had passed on the way here from Kellen. His eyes lingering on the twisted oak for a few moments, something tried to click in the back of his mind. Pulling his sight away from the tree, he grasped at the small clicking with mental fingers. Too late, the minute he focused on it, that was the minute it was gone. Shaking his head slightly, he refocused his attentions back to Sekuda.

"Taras?" Thinking back in his memories a little bit, Ethstar recalled the fond memories of that place. Yes, he certianly had. It was a very interesting place too. "I have been there once. To the library, and to a pub and inn, but that is about it?" Giving the man a short nod, he kept his steady pace going, noticing that Sekuda was doing a good job of keeping up with him. Perhaps he would speed it up later, the less time it took to get to Kellen, the better. "How about you?"

With a short nod of thanks, Ethstar accepted the bread. Looking down on the piece with a wary look in his eyes, he took a small sniff. Blinking, he realized it actually smelt pretty good. He had once ate some, now that he had thought about it. With this new assurance that it was tasty food, he took a small and polite bite. After he had pulled a small morsel into his mouth, he didn't speak any more words, but instead waited for Sekuda to go ahead. He thought it was somewhat rude to talk with your mouth full anyway.

sekuda matsinua - January 31, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
Sekuda had taken a large bite from his piece of bread and swallowed it down hard as if he had not eaten in days. A smile came to his face showing the he quite enjoyed the delicious taste of the bread. Earlier he had bought it form a travelling merchant, who happened to have some extra bread on him. He was now glad that he did buy the bread, who knew he would now be travelling to Kellen with this man named Ethstar. When he question was re asked, directed to him he quickly swallowed another piece of his bread and gave a quick answer, instead of his usual pause."It's a good town, been there a few times...not too much though" he gave a smile to the man before looking back to the path they were taking. He knew they were passing a point where it would take longer to get to Kellen and he did not feel like wasting much more time, so his game he started ended quickly right there.

"Oh!" he exclaimed loudly, in a very cheesy way. "It seems we have gone the wrong way, I don't remember this large rock here, that is shaped like a......" he pause for a moment taking a close look at it, "..a rock!" He shook his head trying to go along with what he said, so it would seem more genuine. "If I remember right Kellen is..um...east from here! Yes east!" he gave another large smile and awaited for Ethstar's response. You idiot, your going to make him think your head is damaged.... he closed his eyes hoping that Ethstar wouldn't make fun of him too much.

Walking quickly along, he kept one ear on Sekuda, keeping the man within his senses. Listening politely to the man's reply to his simple question, he noted the answers were a tad hurried. Or at least, it seemed that way. At the mention of the rock, his eyes turned slightly puzzled, and he regarded it with confusion.

Glancing quickly to Sekuda, then glancing at the rock he had pointed out, he stopped dead in his tracks. For a moment, his mind was bordering on arguing, and saying he knew where he was going. After a few seconds of considering this thought though, he threw it out of his mind. The man was obviously human, and probably knew this land much better then Ethstar did. A small sigh escaped his lips, slightly frustrated. Not directed at Sekuda or his advice, but directed toward himself. He wondered if he would ever fit in at this plane, and if he would ever get a blasted sense of direction. Chewing his small bite of bread for a few more moments, he finally swallowed. It was quite good, really. "Oh? I apoligize, I thought I was going in the correct direction." Offering a small laugh at his own idioticy, he thought up a new plan. "Why don't YOU lead us to Kellen?" The tone was actually questioning, not sarcastic or mean in any way. He truly thought it would be a better idea if the human led the way from now on.

Taking another small bite, he rolled the piece around in his mouth while taking a look around. Somewhat absentmindedly, he tried to commit the small area to memory, so he would remember that east of here was Kellen. Hopefully next time he was here, his 'landmarks' would help him out a little more. Nearly sighing again, he took another bite of the bread before finishing his other, his mouth now pretty full. As he scanned over the landscape, including the lake, he noticed something strange. Some kind of creature leapt from the water, splashing up and splashing down in a mere second. It had looked strange, but he hadn't gotten a very good glimpse. All he knew about it was that it had been small and scaly. Blinking, he returned his wandering gaze to Sekuda, waiting.

Sekuda just gave a smile looking to the east. Now if he remembered correctly they needed to travel the way he was facing right now untill they met a dirt path leading south. Then they would follow it and......He ended his htoughts giving shrug and looking over to Ethstar, who seemed to be staring off at something in the distance. He followed his gaze quickly, just in time to see the second splash disappear into small ripples, which themselves vanished. "Oh! A fish...maby i'll fishing here someday...but not now, off to Kellen we go!" he gave a warm smile to Ethstar before quickly spinning around to face the east again or so he thought. Sekuda could never really tell which was east or west, but he knew if they didn't past another lake they wouldn't be heading in the right direction. So with a deep breath he started to walk forward expecting Ethstar to follow.

Speaking of Ethstar he seemed slightly strange to him. He thought of him as a small child in a way, but it was impossible and he tried to forget the thought. Somehow it still lingired there in the back of his mind. He wished to know more about Ethstar and hoped during this small journey he would find out more about his knew friend. Sekuda had already started to plan out what he would do in Kellen first off helping Kellen get a job, then go visit the stables. Earlier he had been looking for a reason to visit those stables and now was his hcance and he was going to take it. Nothing could possibly stop him from visiting his favorite creature. "So Ethstar, what do like to do in your free time?" Sekuda asked trying to spark a conversation.

Fishing? Glancing up at the tall man quietly, he inserted this new term into his mind. He would have to check it out later. His source of information always had come from Taras library, for that was really the only dependable source of knowledge he had found on this foreign plane. The two times he had been there so far, he had sat and simply read for hours upon hours. He had recieved his fair share of strange looks, but he usually got those anyway. Pulling his eyes back to regard the lake with newfound respect, he made note of the fact that their must be creatures that were native to the waters. So there was a whole other realm of animals he had not even laid eyes up yet?

Shaking his head slightly to return his focus to Sekuda, he thought about the question the man had asked him. He was pretty sure Sekuda was trying his best to keep some form of talk up, but he really did not want to answer a bunch of questions. He was prone to slipping up if he had to lie, and leaving some hint of the lie. At least this particular question could be answered in truth. "Well... I like to fight. Swords and wrestling are particularly my specialities... And..." He looked skyward, his eyes thoughtful and distant. "And studying. About... the wilderness, animals, and the aspects of this world." He gave a small nod to signify that he was through, and ran his mind back over what he had said.

It sounded casual enough to him. He didn't think he had made any mistakes, but he could never be sure. Everything had been truth. He was really interested in this world, as well as with swords. Magic knowledge was another thing too. With another one of his constant blinks, he remembered he had forgotten to mention that subject. "I also study magics. I am quite proficient with identifying magic, and knowing the facts about it." There, that was all. The last phrase had been a little proud-sounding though, or at least that is what it had seemed to him. He truly hoped the man would take it that way, for he was trying to stay on the good side of all the people he managed to meet. "And you...?"

Sekuda kept us face noting his surroundings as they walked on, keeping track of where they were which he had a pretty good idea of. While his mind was set on this job his ears were set on listening to Ethstar and what he had to say. Everything he heard had been said before by different people here and there. Fighting was something Sekuda could relate to his childhood training days in the stables made sure of that. When the question was re asked, directed at him he quickly thought before answering in a casual tone to hid his enthusiasm with what he enjoyed best.

"Well, let's see there is horseback ridding...this is my favorite thing then there is fighting like you..." he said in a smooth tone while he glanced back at him. "That's pretty much it....." he started while trying to think of anything else. Was there something he had left out? How could I forget! thought Sekuda as he once more looked over his shoulder. "I also enjoy sitting around...and resting out in the sun.." he gave a cheesy smile before returning his gaze to in front of him. As they continued on Sekuda tried to think up any other questions that he may be able to ask Ethstar, but nothing came to his mind at the time.

Ethstar gave a short nod, and continued to walk his path. His mind had focused on the words Sekuda had spoken for a few short moments, but then he had zoned out as the man had finished talking. The Fallen wasn't completely sure what kind of job he was looking for, and what kind of job people would hire him for. Sekuda would come in handy, now that Ethstar thought about it, being able to spot people who were trying to cheat Ethstar by paying him too little. Ethstar himself could spot any humans that had worse intentions running through their mind. He silently noted that Sekuda seemed at a loss for what to sa, and he was content to leave it that way. The questions had been starting to get too personal for his tastes, although he was sure the man had asked them with complete innocence.

Casting one last glance back to the lake they were leaving, he made a mental promise to himself to try and study these fish. And perhaps ask Sekuda later what fishing was, although that may spark some kind of suspiciousness on Sekuda's part. From the way Sekuda had spoken of fishing, it seemed to Ethstar that it was quite a common thing in these parts. Muttering something under his breath about the fish, he finally pulled his eyes from the water to focus ahead. Kellen was their next destination, which wouldn't have been so if not for Sekuda.

And so they went. Onward to whatever job someone would bring the two men. Strange looking would be one word to describe the pair, if anyone laid a pair of eyes upon them. One completely and awestrikingly beautiful being, and one extremely tall being. Quite the pair indeed.
