Title: A Reason
Kain Dunarrow - January 8, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
A wandering samurai who has abandoned all discipline and reason and is searching for a reason to wield the sword. Kain was frustrated, if he didn't find a reason to wield his weapon, he was going to abandon it with death. Some swing the sword with no skill but with great reason and it gives them focus. He however was slightly different in the fact that he fought with the skills of a samurai and yet had no reason and no "side" to fight on.
Kain wandered around for only two reasons, finding his reason, and to drink like no tommorow. As he thought about it, he pulled a flask from his hip and drained it before throwing it to the side and wiping his lips with his hand. He felt his stubble. Frustrating and itchy...
Kain sat down to the side of the road and began to think. However, he had just drained the last bit of Sake, his favorite alcoholic drink, which strangely helped him think. He muttered a curse under his breath and decided to just sit there... it's not like he had any money to buy any Sake anyway. Kain was always scrounging around for enough money to pay for his addiction. It was a weakness in some people's views, but in his, it was the best stuff in the world...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 9, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
Thinking about what to do next, she sighed, and then closed her eyes. A few minutes later, footsteps were heard. Then, something being thrown. She opened her eyes, and saw the flask on the ground.
Amy was sitting in a tree, her hands on her backpack straps. She noticed a man sit down, and was surprised to see that he didnt notice her, or at least seem that he didnt. She quietly went through her backpack and got her dagger out. She put her legs around the tree trunk, and slid, her body hanging off the trunk. She was behind him, and after a few moments of silent, she spoke. "Psss... Boo" She quickly got back up, letting a few leaves fall down on his head, as it was obvious someone was there now. Luckily, a bird cam flying out as soon as she got back up, so she was waiting to see if he would still be suspicious.
She smiled at this, and then waited. She froze, trying not making any movement, but still had her dagger in her hand, ready.
Kain Dunarrow - January 9, 2006 04:32 PM (GMT)
Kain was aware that someone was there the whole time. Samurai training helps in situations like this. He was surprised when they came from their hiding place with a "psss...Boo". He smirked at this and heard a bird fly out, "Stupid bird." It would seem that they had no idea that he knew they were there.
Kain remained silent for a long time, and the longer he waited the more anticipated he became. He was waiting for their next move but, instead he would rather have a bit of fun with this; it was his nature to have fun. He stood up, walked a ways before stopping and turning around. Kain stared right at the hiding spot.
Right there, he knew they were there and yet they still remained unseen. Surprising, very surprising. Kain shrugged and spoke out loud, "Does the kitten wanna come out and play?"
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 9, 2006 11:41 PM (GMT)
Amy watched the man get up and walk. He starred right at her. When he asked the question, she got up, and laughed, the kind of laugh you would hear someone that was full of complete and utter evil, and made most people nervous. Amy did this sometimes just to play with peoples mind, it was fun, being evil, then next a good person. "Aww...Did the kitty scare you??" She said, then jumped off, and smirked. A girl that looked about 19, pink hair, and a long black dress stood in fron of the tree. She put her arm, with her dagger in her hand, close to her body, ready to fight if he started.
"Did the kitty scare you so much you got up and walked before calling me out?" She said with a smile.
"Or were you so stupid you really did think there was a kitten here?? Hmm?"
Oh me, Oh my. This looks like fun.
Kain Dunarrow - January 10, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
Kain smirked at her remark. Strangely enough he expected it to be about this harsh. If he had been sober, he would've just walked away and left it at that but, he felt a small buzz and decided to explore with this newfound woman. For a moment he remained silent, as if he were looking for the words to say... there wasn't much he could say that would make him seem less stupid. He enjoyed being stupid though, it was one of the things that made him become an alcoholic.
Finally he sat down right where he was standing and spoke, "I apologize if I offended, I just didn't know a formal name to address you by..." he sighed a slight sigh, Kain hated to apologize but, he had gotten used to it. Kain was used to doing mess like this and getting himself into trouble with both member of either sex, "...My name is Kain Dunarrow. What might you be called?"
Kain felt like a different man was speaking, he usually kept his name to himself or at least called himself something different. He waited for a reply to come and suddenly he found himself interested in what she would say... oddly enough... he shook it off and listened for her answer...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 12, 2006 12:41 AM (GMT)
She looked surpised by his actions. "Why so hasty to tell me you name? I wouldnt do that if I were you.." She thought about sitting too, but she didnt want to take any chances, so she remained standing. "And adressing someone by 'Kitten'? Wow, what a nice way. And your saying you couldnt think of another way to adress me by?" She laughed again and but her back against the tree. "So, if you really want to know my name.. you are going to have to earn it. But hey, if you tell me your name, I dont suppose it would do any harm." She sighed, closed her eyes, and then began to speak again.
"The names Amy, Sir." She waved, and opened her eyes. Eh, he seems nice.
Kain Dunarrow - January 12, 2006 01:52 AM (GMT)
Kain smirked at the first remark about the whole, "being quick to tell his name." Then she spoke her name and his smirk went away and his face was expressionless. Kain thought about it a little bit, he had no reason to hide his name, seeing as he could defend himself if there was any harm. He was able to protect himself if things should go ill.
His thoughts were empty and for a moment he spaced out and nothing came to mind before he shook his head slightly and thought to himself She seems nice. But then again, he didn't really know her. Kain noticed that she had her dagger out and brought himself back to reality.
"No need to have that out, I'm not going to attack you... unless of course you have something against me." Kain nodded towards her dagger. Slowly but surely he began to feel the slight effects of the alcohol wearing off. He sighed and pulled out a separate flask that he had in his pack, took a swing, and placed it back in his pack...
Kain waited for a response.
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 12, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
Amy looked down at her dagger and chuckled. "Offended, now are ya?" She turned and jumped up several times until she reached one of her backpack straps, then brang it down with her. She sat down against the tree then slid the dagger in.
She stared at him, and it was quiet. Silence was all there was, and no movement either. "That any good?" Looking down at the backpack she nodded.
"What your drinking." She hadnt had a drink in days, and was very thirsty. And the weather made it worse. Although, a light breeze came, but only made her cheeks slightly cooler. She dropped her head backwards against the tree and sighed.
Kain Dunarrow - January 12, 2006 12:19 PM (GMT)
Kain cocked his head to the side slightly as she asked him what he was drinking. He answered quickly, "Sake..." and then he realized that all of a sudden, not a lot of people knew what that was, "it's a wine, tastes real good if the person makes it right, however not a lot of people do. This one I made myself so, if you want some then here..." he got the flask back out and tossed it to her, "And if you don't want that there's some water in my pack..."
Suddenly he realized he was being polite for once and it shocked him. What am I doing? Normally I'd be like myself and keep the sake... but, nevermind... Kain thought to himself. It was a perposterous idea that had sprung up in his mind and he shooed it away.
And what is she doing here? He thought. He mind as well ask seeing as he had nothing better to do and she did, at this point, have his sake, "So...what brings you to the mountains?"
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 13, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
Amy lifted her head, and her hand caught the Sake, and began to drink. Eh, not that bad. Some of the Sake went on her lips, and a little on her chin. When she was done, and the bottle still halfway full, she smiled and said "Thanks." then tossed it back to him.
She wiped her mouth, and then let out a deep sigh.
After listening to his question, she answered "I should ask you the same thing. But anways, I was resting after traveling. I decided to rest in the tree so I can see where the next path to take was, and I knew it wasnt safe to just rest somewhere that anyone can attack me." Her eyes drifted off to the ground and then thought about how he was resting on the ground just a few moments ago, by the tree.
"Take youself, for example. I could have just killed you right there, you might have not known what happened." She chuckled and then lay her head backwards again against the tree.
Kain Dunarrow - January 13, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
Kain caught the flask in his hand and drained the rest of the it before tossing it off to the side. That was the second one he had finished today and he still wasn't getting the buzz that he wanted. What he needed was a tavern and an inn. But once again, he was out of money and was starting to get desperate. He looked back at Amy and chuckled at her comment.
"You could've killed me then and there..." He let his words trail off and then continued his sentence as he stood up and stretched, "Well, the main thing is that you didn't and I'm still alive to have another drink." Kain cocked his head to the side and then blurted out another question, "Why were you resting in a tree when you could be in an inn somewhere? And before you tell me that you could ask the same, I'll answer it for you... uh, currently I'm fresh out of money. I bought enough Sake for my journey up here."
Kain looked up at the sky and saw the sky begin to grow dark... and he shuddered, Night's comin'... this is just great.
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 13, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
Amy was getting tired of the questions. She listened to him though, and then when he had finished, she laughed. "Stupid questions." She again brought her head back up and opened her eyes.
"Lets just say... I felt like resting and wasnt in the mood to walk all the way to an Inn." Not in the mood to walk all the way to the city - and talk to someone, and she began to think this was meaningless, and should just get up and walk away, or do something fun, kill him as she would have done before.
Nah. Im tired anyways. She blinked a few times and yawned.
She noticed he was staring at the sky, so she looked up too. She could tell that night was coming. Slowly, her head came back down. "Night comin, hu?"
Kain Dunarrow - January 13, 2006 04:22 PM (GMT)
Kain smiled and chuckled at her answer, "Sorry for the interrogation." Kain still stared at the sky as it steadily flared orange and pink. Kain was transfixed upon the sky and barely heard her say that night was coming. He remained looking at the sky and made the random comment, "Beautiful," was the only word that he could conjure to describe it.
The sky finally grew blue and then fell into darkness and the star blinked in one by one. He had stood there staring at the sky mesmerized by it. Suddenly he shook the blank look off his face and looked at her. "I'm heading to an inn... a good nights rest wouldn't hurt me... you comin with?"
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 14, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
Amy ignored him until he asked the question. "I thought you didnt have anything to pay with." She said, getting up, along with getting her long black dress dirty. "Jeez.. I need some new clothing. This dress is too much trouble" Saying quietly to herself, looking down. Her head came back up, as did her eyes.
"Or where you planning something else?" She was thinking of whatever he could be thinking at the moment. Possiblly sneaking in, she had no problem with that, or he could be thinking of sneaking up on her and killing her. Nah.
Walking towards him, she reached him, and kneeled down in front of him. "So.."
Kain Dunarrow - January 14, 2006 01:00 AM (GMT)
Kain was surprised at her actions and backed up, "I don't have any money, I was planing on staying there tonight, leaving early without paying, I'm used to doing mess like that anyway..." He smiled at her and meaning it as a compliment said, "I think your dress looks fine, but if it doesn't suit you, then that's fine..."
The darkness was now just settling in and he hated the dark so he needed to get going. Finally he struck a trail towards some lights, perhaps a town was that way, at least that's what he was hoping. He expected Amy to follow him, but if she ditched him, there was no harm on his part. As he walked he pulled out the Sake and took another sip and savored the flavor.
He muttered under his breath something to the effect of, "Mmm, that's good..." and continued his path. Kain glanced back to see if Amy had followed him...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 14, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
Amy again ignored him. She felt weird around him - or rather uncomfortable, she guessed it was the fact that he was an alchoholic. She watched him walk away, and further, not knowing what to do - until he glanced back, and she started to walk forwards, slowly - not knowing if he wanted her to follow him or not.
Their was complete silence, while they walked towards the city. Almost forgetting about her backpack, she stopped and ran back and put her backpack on, then ran back where she was, and started to walk quietly once again, her hand on the straps, and she looked down, feeling a little embarresed that she almost forgot her backpack.
Im such an idiot..
Kain Dunarrow - January 14, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
Kain hated silence... and the fact that he had nothing to say to her made the silence even more haunting. It bugged Kain as he walked through the dark. He stopped as she ran back for her pack then continued walking as she caught back up. He smirked at her but couldn't find any words to say that wouldn't make it sound like he was forcing a conversation.
It was full-blown night now and the stars were glowing brightly and the moon was ever so slightly radiating light. Kain let out another whispering outburst as he looked towards the sky again, "Beautiful... simply beautiful..." He glanced at Amy and gave her a generous smile, "You think so?"
Kain continued walking the whole time and listened intenly for her response in the night air.
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 14, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
While walking in the darkness, and silence, she didnt know what to do. When he started talking, she looked up at the sky too, while still walking. A few moments went by, and she nodded her head.
"Yes.. Simply beautiful." After looking up and admiring the beauty, she looked back down at him. She started getting rid of her doubts and worries about him, and decided to relax.
Her hands came back down, as they were on her straps of her backpack a few minutes ago. "Sir, when do you think we will get there?"
Kain Dunarrow - January 15, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)
As the words came from her mouth, Kain reached a ledge in which he saw an over view of the town. He smirked and turned to her, "Now..." he said. Kain looked over the ledge and frowned as a memory came to him of when he was at a ledge just like this one. However, he was with a different woman and she looked at him and asked, "How do you know where you'll end up?" At this point, Kain returned to the present and shook his head.
His mouth opened up and words broke the silence that his dreaming had created, "I don't, I just jump and go with the wind..." Kain hopped off the ledge and onto the pathway the lead to town. He looked back up to Amy on the ledge and raised his hand to give her leverage...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 15, 2006 06:16 AM (GMT)
Amy smiled when he had found the path leading to town. After he jumped off, she followed, and got on the ledge. Extending his hand forwards, she jumped down, grabbing his hand. Her feet landed on the ground, and she smiled again. Her warm, soft touch left his hands, as she let go.
"Thanks." she said, brushing her dress off. Her hands came back to her side, and she looked to the direction of town. She could see hints of the lights coming from the lanterns hanging from the buildings. "Nice." Amy spoke, turning her head to Kain.
She couldnt wait to get to an inn and rest, she was exhausted for the night.
Kain Dunarrow - January 15, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
Kain began to feel fatigue build up... he had done alot of walking and drinking thus making himself very tired. Luckly they only had to walk a little ways before reaching an inn. Kain paused outside for a moment, taking a sip from a flask, and putting it back. He took a deep breath and pushed the door to the inn open. As he did he looked at the insignia on the door. The symbol was a swirling whirlpool with spines coming from it like a sun.
Kain ignored the insignia after first noticing and walked inside assuming that Amy would follow. He walked up to the counter but stopped halfway as he remembered that he had no money. Kain looked at Amy and bit his lip... asking her for money would be rude... so he turned back around to the innkeeper... "I need a room and she'll have one too," he patted his pocket and his pockets jingled, "However, I'll have to pay you in the morning, I'm tired..."
He fell for the bluff, "Upstairs on the left..." and Kain turned back around to Amy, "Guess I'll be seeing you in the morning and we'll decide what to do then when the time comes." He climbed the stairs to the upstairs rooms and disappeared into one the empty rooms.
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 15, 2006 11:34 PM (GMT)
Amy followed him up the stairs, and walked past his door as he shut it. She stopped, and glanced back, looking at his door, and then slowly walking towards it. "Why have you done all of this for me??" Quietly, she spoke.
A few moments went by, and she walked into her room, shutting the door behind her. She sighed, and walked over to her bed, then sat on it. "Im tired." She flopped backwards, and her head landed on the pillow, and she fell asleep soon afterwards.
Kain Dunarrow - January 16, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Kain did not allow sleep to come to him easily, he lay there with his bare chest upwards and his hands behind his head. He dozed off several times but shook himself awake, he was always like this. He needed the sleep but hated to do it; he wasn't haunted by nightmares or anything but his dreams weren't as plesant as he wanted them to be. The past always seemed to catch up to him when he was asleep.
Kain muttered to himself, "Conscience is the only time where time makes a difference." He sat up and rubbed his forehead. Kain wondered if Amy ever had any trouble sleeping like this. He shook off any thoughts about anything and finally let his eyes flutter shut...
Darkness...darkness...and the thick smell of blood. Kain couldn't not see himself but he could feel blood dripping from him... He reminded himself that this was only a dream, but the pain felt so real... blood dripping, him coughing, his blood...
Kain snapped away and looked at himself; no cuts... He sighed heavily and stood up. Forget this he walked outside of his room and sat on the stairs. Perhaps he'd be able to stay awake here, for fear of falling down the steps if he did. Pull yourself together.
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 16, 2006 02:56 AM (GMT)
Amy had been brought back to reality by some noises. She sat back up on the bed, looking towards the window. A cat had been scratching at the window, but ran away when Amy looked at it. "Silly cat" She lay back down on the bed, trying to fall asleep, but couldnt after a few moments, and she decided to go outside.
She opened the door, she was thinking of just leaving, and maybe even leaving all the trouble to Kain. Closing the door behind her, she turned her body, towards the stairs, and saw him. Her bare feet walked behind him, and she crouched down, her dress slipping a little on her arms.
"Cant fall asleep?" She asked him in her usual soft voice, and she put her arms on her knees, across her chest. Focused on the end of the stairs, she started to think of what they would do after this.
Kain Dunarrow - January 16, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
Kain jerked when Amy appeared there. He wasn't exactly all the way there but at the same time he heard her question and replied, "Somethin like that..." Thoughts raced through his mind, of her, of this newfound kindness he seemed to become fond of, of what he was doing here. He remembered his original quest, his quest for living, his question of reason. Why wield the sword?
Now was probably a good time to ask. Kain looked at her, and then looked away again, "Have you ever felt... out of place, like you shouldn't exist. There's no real reason to live..." He paused for a long moment, leting the words sink in before he continued, "Or like the only thing that even really mattered to you was torn away and you don't have a reaon to go on, but you feel like you must?"
Kain stopped there, he shook his head, "I'm sorry, I must not be making very much sense..."
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 17, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
After listening to what he had to say, she looked up to the ceiling, she thought about it. She remembered not knowing much about her past, and his words cut in deep. Deeper than any sword could. Tears slowly came down her cheek, and she looked back at him, not caring about her tears showing, it didnt matter to her. Everyone cried anyways.
"Yes." At the same time, she didnt want to look like a complete fool. She wiped her eyes. "Excuse me. Dont mind me." A face became a smile, and then she started laughing.
"Wow. How many people do you see crying in front of another person?" This is a rather fake one, but she tried to make it feel like something, she wanted to be happy. She wasnt sure if he would buy it, but she continued. But after a few more moments, she started to ease down a little. Now after laughing, wow, she felt stupid. Oh my, somebody save me. Im a fool. Why do I keep on brushing everything about me away? Her eyes showed sorrow, although from the dim lighting on the stairs, she wasnt sure if anyone could see.
Kain Dunarrow - January 17, 2006 02:26 AM (GMT)
Kain noticed her tears and now wished that he hadn't said anything. He was always finding a way to upset people, whether it be for the best or the worst. Kain lowered his head into his hands but looked at her. Kain finally spoke up, "There is nothing wrong with tears," he said, "All people shed them and if they haven't, they have not lived."
Kain waited until she regained her composure and then shook his head, "I apologize..." he paused, "it's nothing..." He let his words trail off and let silence take them away. Thoughts were racing through his mind; a purpose for living, a reason to wield the sword, it was all a part of his quest. A quest that he felt he was unable to complete.
He was trying to rewrite his life, start anew after such a terrible past. He had certainly screwed up along the way, making a sidelong glance at the pack filled with alcohol. Damnit, what have you done to yourself, Kain...?
"Why is life so difficult?" Kain said leaning back on the stairs...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 17, 2006 03:10 AM (GMT)
When Kain asked about what the meaning of life was, she blinked and then sat down from her crouching position. Her legs were on the steps in front of her, and she put her hands on her knees. "Life... the meaning is to achieve what you can. While you are still able to do it. Before your greatest fear gets to you."
Thinking of her current situation, she realized what her goal and fear was. Her goal was to find out more about her past and family. Although, at the same time she wasnt too sure that was true. The past is the past, and you can changed it. Pherhaps it was the her future choices made in Imythess? She was a little confused on this issue, but her mind wondered off to her fear.
Fear.... it was a nasty word. Too many to name, but her main fear and nightmare was to not be able to feel again. In other words - Death. She was also a bit confused on this... death could be a good thing, if dont wish to feel pain anymore.
Turning her head to Kain, she asked, "Kain. What is your lifetime goal and your greatest fear?"
Kain Dunarrow - January 17, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
Kain let out a sigh and tried to think of a response to her question. He knew the answer all to well and had told it to himself many times. Kain finally spoke, "My goal is to find a reason to live in this world and I have two fears... one is that I will die before my reason is found and the other..." He let his sentence trail off into silence.
Memories swirled in his mind and faces faded in and out. Swords clashing and the sounds of screams of people in agony. Fire blazed around and people screamed and Kain shook himself back to the real world.
"I am afraid, that I will get to close to someone; anyone, it doesn't matter who..." Kain's throat became hot at the back and he bit his lip to keep from showing emotion, "...and that they'll be torn away from me..." He was glad it was dark. Now he swallowed the emotions and gave one final word, "...again..."
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 18, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
She listened to him speak, and then looked down. "You know... if you want to find a reason to live..." Her eyes closed. "Then stop." Eyes opened again, and her head tilted to look at him. "Do what you enjoy. That should be your goal. No.. everyones goal." Then, thinking of what his fear was, she thought quietly for a moment.
"And fear of becoming close to someone... and trying not to.. is only making going to make you lonely." Shaking her head and closing her eyes, her hand came up, and touched his shoulder with her gentle, and warm, soft hands.
"How can you find a reason to live if your fear is to become close to someone? That to me... is only making your goal growing apart from you." Scooting a little towards him, she still had her hand on his shoulder, and then placed her other next to it. Lowering her head onto them, she stared at Kain.
"Im sorry if Im confusing you." She noticed she had just gone off rambling. But to her, she made her second friend, Kain. She was happy to make another friend, and being friends, meant caring for each other. Although, she wanted to respect him, so she wasnt sure if she should have said that, or do what she had just done, he didnt want to become close to anyone.. was she making his fear reality? She tensed up a bit and closed her eyes. Whispering softly, she said, "Im sorry" once again.
Kain Dunarrow - January 18, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Kain listened to what she said and he drank in every word, letting it sink in. He thought about it as she continued. Do what he enjoys...? What did he enjoy, he wondered to himself. Kain enjoying fighting and alcohol. He shook those thoughts off... this was not the time to think of fighting or drinking.
Then he felt her touch and automatically flinched with her touch. Kain's eyes shifted to her hand. Her hand was warm and as she slid closer Kain flinched again. After she laid another hand on his shoulder and her head laid upon them, he relaxed a little, but not much.
She spoke again, apologizing this time but she hadn't moved. Her eyes were closed and Kain just looked at her face. She is cute, Kain thought to himself... he flinched again. What was he thinking about...? He didn't want to be close, but there was no changing that they were growing that way.
Kain felt different this time... he wasn't angry, he wansn't sad, he wasn't even happy. Suddenly he seemed very apathetic, emotionless. His mouth became cotton and he could barely spit out the words he was trying to conjure, "It's... it's alright..." He hadn't said those words in a while. He gave in and finally relaxed completely, "Thank you..."
A friend at last... that knew him, and didn't judge him because he was an alcoholic or arrogant. Kain smirked, It's about time... He thought to himself...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 18, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
Amy opened her eyes again, and heard him say that it was alright, and thank you. She was releavied that she didnt do or say anything to hurt him. She smiled, "You welcome. And I also thank you." Her cheek rested on her hands now, and her head against his neck, eyes closed half way, she stared again at the end of the stairs. She was wondering how long they would stay, since none had any gold to pay.
She continued to rest her cheek on his shoulder for a few more moments, then removed it slowly, followed by her hands. Her hands came down to her side, and she put her elbows on her legs. Her head was supported by her hands, on her chin. "When do you think we should..." Looking around.. she made sure nobody would hear them. After clearing that it was ok, she continued. "Leave."
Amy looked back at Kain, awaiting his response.
Kain Dunarrow - January 18, 2006 06:52 PM (GMT)
Kain smiled and glanced down the stairs, he figured at first that they would leave in the night and skip out on paying, but he realized that Amy was still tired. Well, to be honest she probably hadn't gotten any sleep at all. Kain hadn't gotten much, but he had gotten enough to go on for a day.
"Whenever you want, if you want to get some more sleep, I'll take care paying our keep..." Kain continued to look down at the stairs, "I'll find some way..."
Kain waited for her response as numerous thoughts raced through his mind...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 19, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
Amy knew she could handle the rest of the day, as she was sure he would also be able to. "Nah. I should be fine. We should go now." Standing up, she smiled.
"Shall we?" Leaning against the wall, she put her arms across her chest, waiting if he wanted to go or stay. In her mind, she thought of what they would do anyways, there wasnt much to do in the city. Well, it was that or she didnt know much being the fact she hasnt been here before.
Turning her head, she looked at the door.
Kain Dunarrow - January 19, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
Kain sat on the wooden stairs for a couple of moments taking the time to make a few thoughts before decided. If they were gonna leave, they would have to leave now, and quickly and quietly. Kain didn't stand up for a what seemed like a life time to him. But in all actuallity it was probably more like a couple of seconds. Kain stood up and stretched. He leaned back and popped his back.
Kain popped his neck and leaned against the wall and whispered, "Alright, let's go..." He took the first stair and then stopped himself, "Where are we gonna go?" He continued down the stairs and assumed that Amy would follow behind, perhaps with a reply...
Kaleidoscope Illusion - January 19, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Amy nodded, and walked down the stairs behind him quielty. "Dont know..." As they came closer to the door, she began to speak again. "Up to you. And besides, I haven't been in town before, so I would have no idea."
Wondering about if he had been in town before, she asked. "Have you been in town?" It was dark right now, and she like it for some reason. Didnt know why, but she just liked it when it was quiet.

It was quiet, and dark, and Kain was a bit edgy. He wanted to leave so he could find out what was going on around in this area, perhaps some sort of dojo... it didn't matter, he was just ready to get out of the inn. Kain pushed the door to the inn open quietly and walked out into the night. It was dark and the moon and stars were still showing themselves against the night sky. Kain smiled as he looked up, he felt like such a stargazer, he looked at them quite often, whenever he wasn't sleeping.
He continued to stare at them... again muttering to himself that it was beautiful as he looked away. Kain turned back, expecting to see Amy there. He wasn't quite sure where they were to go, in the middle of the night like this. Only the moonlight lit the path to town. Seeing as the inn was directly outside of the town.
Kain was happy, he was glad to get away from the inn. He was glad that he didn't have to worry about paying. He looked towards the gate; and then back to Amy, "Ready?"

Walking outside, she too looked up. The beautiful twinkling stars that stood where the brightest. To her right, she could see the moon, and tonight it was a full moon. Back to Kain, she looked at him and smiled, "Yes." Continuing to walk, she came to the gate and put a strand of her hair behind her head.
"Ready or not, here I come." Turning to back to Kain, she gave him a thumbs up, still smiling.

Kain watched as she gave him the thumbs up sign and continued to have her bright smile on her face. Kain smiled back and walked up to the guards who seemed to be sleeping. He poked one on the shoulder and there was a slight *tink* sound as Kain's finger touched the man's armor. "Hey, wake up boys, it's rise and-" The guard's head rolled back and revealed a nasty cut across his neck and blood slowly dripping out.
Kain scrambled back and looked at Amy, "Curses... that one's dead, which means..." Kain looked at the other and he was just as quiet. The only thing that Kain notices was that he wasn't breathing and a drop of blood dripped from the corner of his mouth...
Kain was worried, really worried, "Who could've done this?" He said looking at the dead bodies in mesmerization. He couldn't believe that someone would kill the guards of a town. It was dark, and all became silent...

Amy looked away at the dead bodys, swallowing hard. Not again Blood, it made her puke, she didnt like it - the blood or the puke. "We should hurry then." Taking a deep breath, she looked forward, and started to walk towards the gate.
She saw something move in the shadows, so she stopped, looking around. It could be an animal, or the killer. "Did you see that?" She whispered softly, and looked back. "Be on guard." Then, slowly she bent down, getting her dagger out of her boot, that was were she always hid it. Then, slowly she came back up.
