The rain poured in sheets, dumping onto the ground and flooding the streets of Taras. The wind picked up, blowing anything that has been left on the streets about. Two muddy old brown boots stomped in the water and towards the Song of Elves Tavern & Inn. The owner of the boots wore a long brown cloak, hiding a thin figure of a young woman in her late teens. Her hood was over her head, hiding her features as she walked to the door of the inn and opened it. She walked inside, closing the door behind her. Her coat was soaked to the skin as well as the rest of her as her blue grey eyes peered from underneath the old cloak. She took it off, revealing her light blue dress that was soaked, clinging to her skin. She put up her cloak up on a coat rack since it was wet, wringing out her red and black wavy hair before walking slowly to the fireplace. She sat down close to the hearth, putting his hands towards the fire as she felt the warmth emitting from it's wonderful red and orange flames. She heard footsteps comming near her and looked up to find a bartender. "Miss, would you like me to get you something to warm you? Tea maybe." Kli looked back to the fire.
"No thank you, sir, I am fine.. The fire is warm enough for me.." She said kindly, rubbing her hands together to warm herself. The bard was slinging, and it seemed to relax her into closing her eyes and taking in deep breathes. She sat there for a while, doing nothing but breathing and listening to the sweet music of the bard and her song of joy. The rain, though, set off the whole atmosphere, giving an imbalance to the joyful essence of the tavern. She finally got up, searching through a bag that she held to find a small bag of gold. She smiled, walking over to the counter. "I would like to rent a room for the night, I don't think that the rain is going to start any time soon.." She said softly. "That will be ten gold peices m'lady.." She nodded, taking out the money and putting it on the counter. The man took the money, giving her a key. "Room twelve, I hope you have a nice stay.." She smiled politely. "Thank you, sir.." She said before starting back to the fireplace.

Romanus was in a very good mood at the moment. He loved the rain, it was his favorite weather of all. He had been told once that it had been raining when he was born, but he hadn't see what that had to do with anything. His clothes were soaked though, he had been in the rain for quite some time now. Everything, from his black cloak to his black boots would take quite some time to dry out. He figured he should get a room for the night if the innkeeper didn't attempt to turn him in or something stupid like that. He sighed, then walked in the first place he found. It was called The Song of Elves.
He looked around the room, smiling slightly. He had never seen anyone in this room before, which was a good thing. It meant no one could turn him in to the guards. He had noticed that they seemed more worried currently with the safety of the city than capturing wanted criminals. He smiled again, then walked up to the bartender and asked if any rooms were available. The bartender looked him up and down, then nodded. "Aye, there's one room open. That'll be ten gold pieces, sir." Romanus searched through his belongings for a moment, then finally found ten gold pieces and gave them to the man. "Room fifteen sir, enjoy your stay." Romanus nodded, then turned around, surveying the room. He noticed a woman was sitting all alone. He wondered what the reason was for this, but decided not to disturb her for now. He sat down not to far off, listening to the music.

Kli sighed softly, wishing she had a pair of dry clothes, but knew that being in Imythess was much better than being in Lorian in her castle where she would be looked up to and expected to be perfect. She took off her boots, dumping the water that had gotten in them into a bucket that was supposed to keep the leaky roof from getting the floor wet. She put her shoes back on, wringing out the end of her dress because it was still completely soaked. Kli's mind wandered to what she would have to do to build a home in Imythess, wiping some excess water from her skin and looking into the fire in the fireplace. The bard sung a familiar song that she loved, making her eyes close as she hummed along with the tune. "In the arms of nature new, up into the sky so white and blue, leaves blowing of orange and red, some to be born and some to be dead.." She sung along very softly so that it was almost inaudible as she sat by the fire and wrapped her arms about her knees. She sighed softly, laying her head down on her knees as she listened to the song and thought of the one day in fall that she went walking among the falling leaves.
After a few moments, she took in a deep breath and opened her eyes. She stood up, brushing herself off before walking over to the counter. She waited as the bartender took other people's orders, sitting on a stool closeby. "And what can I get you little lady?" He asked, wiping the counter after he had given the other customers what they wanted. "A loaf of bread please, I figure that if I don't finish it now I'll save it for later.." She said with a small smile. The bartender nodded, taking down the loaf. "That'll be one gold peice.." He said, putting it on the counter. She put down the gold, taking the bread thankfully. "If I may ask, what is a lady doing out here at this time without someone to guard her interests? The storm catch you?" He asked. Kli stood up, getting a little angry that he thought she couldn't take care of herself. "I'm no lady, and I can take care of my own.. Thank you for the bread.." She said, trying to calm herself as she turned and walked towards the fire once again. She sat down, ripping some bread off and eating silently.

Romanus sighed as he listened to everything going on around him, then ordered some wine. "Ah, this be the finest wine in all of Taras, good choice, good choice...." Romanus just smiled and paid the man for the wine. They all said their wine was the best, just so people would buy more of it. Romanus took a small sip, and savored the taste of it. It was surprisingly good, which he had not expected. He smiled inwardly, and made a mental note to stay here in future visits to this cursed city. He listened to the song, but could not recognize it. He liked it though.
He listened more intently as the bard continued to sing, and noticed some others were as well, and the woman who was soaked even sang one part of it, though very low so it was hard to hear. He just sat back and smiled, enjoying his wine. He had very few moments like this anymore, and savored every second of them. He sighed, remembering how he was constantly hunted. He would never have any rest from the law, it seemed. He sighed and asked for a refill of his wine, which he got momentarily, and paid the man once again, and continued to listen to the bard.

Her blue grey eyes danced about, studying the people about her before resting on a young man who had ordered some wine. She watched him silently, studying his movements and trying to understand why he was there. Her eyes left him to look at the fire, eating a little more of the bread before standing up once again and starting to pace about the room to stretch her legs who seemed to be freezing into solid ice. Water dripped from her hair and clothes, but she did nothing to fix it. She sighed softly, walking towards the bar once again. "Sir.." She said in a soft voice, trying to get his attention as she took a seat on the stool. The bartender did not notice her though, but kept filling orders busily. "Sir, a dragon is on its way here because it's hungry.." She said, dripping with sarcasm as she tried to get the attention of the bartender who was making polite conversation and trying to keep up with the other customers. "Watch out, your going to be blown up by that!" She said, frowning since he didn't notice her. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she tried to settle down and not get mad. She wrapped the bread in a hankercheif, putting it in her bag with a sigh. Her eyes wandered over to Romanus, wondering she was the only one being ignored by the bartender.
"Sir.." She said, tapping the table by him. "Is it just me or am I being ignored?" She asked, even though she didn't usually talk to strangers unless they spoke to her first as a habit. She didn't care much now about the whole thing, just wanting to speak to someone so that she wouldn't go completely crazy. She leaned against the bar before her eyes wandered off in thought.

(I'm assuming you were speakin' to me.....)
Romanus looked at the woman as she got up, then went back to listening to the music. He heard her when she made the sarcastic remarks though, and smiled slightly to himself. The bartender seemed to not care if he got blown up. When the woman tapped his table, he looked at her and smiled. "He's ignoring you, is my guess. So it's not just you." He took a drink of his wine, then studied her, trying to figure out who she was. She was probably at least middle class, if not higher. Her dress hinted at higher, even nobility perhaps, but he did not think there were nobles in this land. Plus, why would a noble walk around in the rain at night?

Kli nodded slightly, listening to the man before looking to the bartender once again. "Well, as long as it isn't just me.." She shrugged, closing her eyes and trying to calm herself down. She took ten large deep breaths, slowly calming down before opening her blue grey eyes and staring at the bartender with a slight smirk. Her hair turned from black and red to blonde and pushed her hair behind her ear, starting to act like an idiot so the bartender would notice she was trying to get his attention. "Excuse me?" She asked with a soft voice and an innocent smile, knowing that the bartender would most likely notice more her more easily. She leaned across the bar, using a spoon to tap against a glass and get his attention. The bartender looked back to Kli with new interest, grinning and leaning slightly. "Can I help you miss?" Kli smirked very slightly, changing her hair back to normal. "You can pay attention to your customers as well as get me a glass of water.." She said innocently, watching the bartender stand there stunned. "What? It's not my fault I had to find a way to get your attention.." She shrugged very slightly. The bartender rolled his eyes, pouring her a glass of water and setting it on the counter. "Thanks.."
Kli smiled softly, taking a sip of her water and calming herself down before glancing over to Romanus silently. "So, what's your story?" She asked simply, quite bored at her current situation as she sat up properly in her seet, resting her right wrist on the table and taking another sip from her mug of water. "Everyone has some kind of story these days.. Why are you here? Get stuck in the rain?"
Romanus - January 15, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
He smiled slightly when she changed her hair color, and almost laughed when she just asked for a glass of water. Then she asked him what his story was. His smile faltered, and a frown replaced it. "Well, I'm not here because of the rain. I'd much rather be out there than in here, tell the truth. I'm hiding from some people who would like very much to kill me." He sighed, remembering all the running he had had to do just to lose them. "So then, what about you? What's someone like you doing here in a tavern? You dress more like you live in a palace or something......" He was curious as to where she came from, because she acted very strange, yet he still thought she was a noble of some sort.
Kli_Of_Lorian - January 16, 2006 03:12 PM (GMT)
Kli watched him silently, taking another sip of the water and looking over to the cup once again. "That's the problem with this world.. People have nothing better to do than to try and kill others for either money or pride.. No one realizes that there is no need for killing unless you are going to eat what you kill.." Kli shrugged with a sigh, letting her fingers trace the top edge of the cup as her thoughts wandered away from everything. She went back to all the times she was being tried to be killed and she couldn't help but wonder why everyone had to be so violent. "Then again, you can't change what other people do, and without evil there could be no good as well as the other way around.." She shrugged with a small smile, looking to him. She listened to what he had asked and gave a small sigh, letting her eyes go to the bar and shrugged a bit again. "It's a long story, a long story indeed.." She said, looking to him once again. "I guess you could say that I came from a good family, but when I came here, I decided that I would move here.. And, that's where I am, I'm going to build a home here.." She said with a smile.
Romanus - January 27, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
He listened to her speak, then smiled when she said she was going to build a home. "Where is it going to be? And how are you going to build it? And what with?" He was curious now, houses were strange. He didn't see much use for them, but then again he was always on the move. So he had never had much use for them. He couldn't stay in one place for to long or he'd go crazy. He figured those who had them liked them though. Perhaps he would get one someday, just to say he had one. Perhaps. But he couldn't afford one, not yet anyways. Money was so hard to come by in this land.
Kli_Of_Lorian - March 13, 2006 04:02 PM (GMT)
Kli sighed, giving a small shrug. "To tell you the truth, I don't really know, but I'm going to try and get the best house I can with what I have.. I'll probably end up with just a regular house in the woods.." She said, giving a smile as she sat there by him. "I think I'll put it in the forest though.. Or maybe a small plain around the forest somewhere.. That way I can have a house but also travel around the woods whenever I want to.." She said happily. "The house will be mostly for when I want to have guests over, since I certainly cannot have a gathering of people for many nights without supplying a roof over their heads.." She said simply, looking to the bar as she thought. "So, Romanus is it? Do you have any suggestions where I should put the house or what I should make it out of?" She asked, looking back at him with a polite smile. "I'd be glad for any suggestions I can because this is going to be the first real house I've built.."
