Title: Awakening

Barak - November 17, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
The sun was hidden as Barak walked along, making his way steadily through the forest, unhindered by the plants that grew there. The forest was unusually quiet, and so far he had seen no sign of life in the part he had been through. One hand gripped the hilt of his sword as he walked, ready to be used should he need it. A sudden sound made him turn just in time to catch sight of the blade sweeping towards him.

With a jerk, Barak sat up, looking around. A dream, it had all been a dream. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he stood up, not feeling rested at all from the night's sleep. Picking up his cloak, he fastened it around his shoulders and set off, determined to make it as far through the forest as he could. His pace was a brisk walk, one that would afford him little time to look for food, but he didn't care. The dream had set him ill at ease, and he didn't want to stay in this forest any longer than he had to. Hopefully it had been just that, a dream, but you could never tell when something like that would happen, so he decided that he would be especially observant today.

Azrail had been flying over the forest, looking down every now and then to see if there was anyone or anything to kill. As he flew overhead he noticed a man walking slowly along a small path. He appeared to have awakened only a moment before, but he could not be certian. "This could be my best chance." He thought as he hovered overhead watching the man's every move. "I might as well. I havn't had anything else to do for quite some time."

With his course of action decided he flew down towards the man and when he got close he caste magic missle with a wave of his hand sending an orb of raw energy shooting towards his target.

Barak - November 17, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
His peaceful walk through the forest was interrupted suddenly. There had been no warning, and Barak felt the blow strike him and send him tumbling to the ground. Falling hard, he swiftly regained his feet, swinging his two-handed sword in a wide arc to fend off anyone that might have been coming towards him. Now that his feet were beneath him and he was alert, Barak looked around, constantly searching. Moving swiftly, he kept moving, never staying in the same spot, not wanting to present an easy target. The blow that had struck him had undoubtedly left a bruise, but he ignored it, lefting his sword easily.

Seeing some movement out of the corner of his eye, he spun, catching sight of a figure flying through the air. No wonder he hadn't seen his foe before hand, he had been watching the ground and the branches of the trees, not the sky. With a short sigh, he began moving in the direction he had been initially traveling in, still watching for the foe. Whoever he was, he would not find an easy hunt if he decided to chase after Barak.

As Azrail flew above the man he noticed his opponent was able to swing his sword easily even with the wound he had recieved. "He his obviously far better in melee than I. It would be best if I tried to fight him from above." He thought as he watched the man.

After about ten minutes of following the man from behind he decided he had waited long enough. He cast magic missle once again, this time aiming for the mans right leg. If it hit it would probobly not be enough to break the leg but it would certainly be enough to slow his movements.

When he attack was half-way to his the man he quickly flew down and behind a nearby tree. "I must stay invisible as long as I can he thought as he landed.

Barak - December 2, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
For ten minutes Barak moved through the woods, attentive to anything around him. Sword in hand, he moved swiftly and easily through the wooded areas, hoping for some cover from his unseen foe. Barak still had almost no idea who the person was who had attacked him or why he had been attacked. As far as he knew he hadn't been traveling across anyone's land. So it was unlikely that it was a one time blow designed to warn him away. Stopping for a second, he listened around, and it was that that aided him. The sound of the missile racing through the air warned him and he swiftly moved to the side, putting his back to a tree. The magic missile flew past and hit the ground. Frustrated with this persistant foe, he shouted into the surrounding foilage. "Show yourself! Are you too afraid to even reveal your presence?"

Grumbling about cowards that wouldn't even face someone in combat, Barak began running once again, extremely glad for the long endurance training he had done throughout the years. He was barely winded, and could keep up his current pace for several more minutes.
