Title: A New Beginning
Description: Romanus

Barak - November 17, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
Slowly, his eyes opened, taking in the first sights of the day. The thundering of the falls filled his ears, making it almost impossible to hear anything else, even the birds that were in the trees above him. With a quiet sigh, Barak sat up, looking around as he did at his meager possessions. A simple cloak and a weapon made up the sum of his items, that plus a small amount of food he had collected the previous day. He would need to search for some more while he traveled or he would be hungry tonight. The little bit that was left wasn't enough to last him through two meals, let alone three. Standing up slowly, Barak reached up to the sky, stretching for a few seconds after the long night on the ground. Breathing deeply, he released it and picked up his sword, placing it across his back as he prepared for the day. Picking up the cloak that he had wadded up to form a pillow, he formed it into a bag and placed the food into it, carrying it easily in one large hand. Without a second thought to the dream he had had last night, he began walking, away from the thundering falls and the crystal lake, into the wilderness and wherever that would take him.

Romanus had left his horse at a stable in Cascadia, not wanting to ride at the moment. He headed off towards the Memphian Falls, with his sword and cloak, hoping maybe to find some food on the way. Hopefully some venison, he loved venison. However, he found nothing, and almost arrived in an uneventful fashion, and slightly depressed. But as he turned around a tree he walked straight into another person. "Oh, sorry....." He looks at the person, waiting for a reaction.

Barak - November 17, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
Barak had taken a step back upon the collision with this stranger, his hand instinctively going towards the hilt of his sword. However, he stopped himself once he heard the person speak. It had been an accident, nothing more, nothing less. With an apologetic smile, he spoke in a voice that was a deep rumple, neither friendly nor hostile. "That is alright, I probably should have been paying more attention." Barak took the time to look over the person, trying to see whether he would be friend or foe. From what he could tell, the person was not interested in a fight. He didn't have the same attitude that someone looking for a fight would have, and his hand wasn't constantly on his weapon, which was a comforting thing to know. It really was too early in the morning to be fighting, and it would only make Barak hungrier, meaning the food would last for a shorter amount of time.

Romanus - November 18, 2005 01:26 AM (GMT)
"I should have as well. So where were you off to in such a hurry? And do you know if any elk are around?" He looked around as he said this, stomach rumbling very loudly. He hadn't eaten for a couple of days, and needed to find some food soon. He looked back at this person in front of him, studying him. "Well, I'm Romanus, pleased to meet you."

(sorry for short post I'm in a slight hurry)

Barak - November 19, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
Barak listened attentively to what Romanus said, trying to learn as much as he could about him. The question about the elk only served to remind Barak of his own meager supply of food. "No, I have not seen any elf, though if I did it would be a welcome sight indeed." Looking around, Barak watched for any sign of something that he could eat, whether it were animal or plant didn't matter to him. "I was heading towards the nearest city in that direction. Do you know how far it is till I get out of this forest?" Barak hoped that he was almost throught he forest and a town was close by. He still had a few coins, not much, but enough to buy him a decent meal, a warm meal. Since he was in a hurry, he hadn't spent the time needed to make a fire and cook a meal, simply eating as he went and only stopping when it became too dark to see the path he was taking.

Romanus - November 26, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
Romanus looked back behind him. "Well, i know it's a couple miles out of the forest, but I don't know if any cities are nearby. Cascadia is about a days walk if you keep going straight though. I'm sure some food and stuff is there. I'm thinking about heading back to get my horse, actually. I left him there for a few days, but I should go get him probably, in case anyone tries to take him......" He hoped nobody did, he was becoming very close to that horse. He had heard of some sort of Prestige Class for horse riders, maybe he should try to get it.
