An entirely eneventful night. Thats what this night was. No crime, no disturbances, nothing. Not even a lost person unfamiliar with the streets of Taras. Konahomaru was bored, something he had never expected to expereince, and didnt like the feeling at all. He needed to do something, but what? Kona looked around as he patrolled, almost frantically. He couldnt stand this boredom.

Kona passed the Song of Elves Tavern, and then the library. He was headed for the town square. As unbelievable as it was, most of the crime happened around this place, or at lesat, this is were the idiotic ones came. Almost as if they wanted to be caught and have their brains beat out by a angry half-celestial. What an interesting notion. Sounds almost like some sort of song a bard would sing.

Great. Now im entertaining myself, by making up a song about a half-celestial beating brains out of common criminals. Next thing that may happen, is some women that I do not know at all will come out to meet me.

Hymwen darkstar was walking in the taras streets and the next thing she
Does is go's to the town square and there was a man there and she puts
Her hand on the hilt of her long sword and walks towerd the man and she
Smiles and says " hello my name is hymwen whats yours sir." she still
Had a smile on and her hand still on the hilt of her sword. you must always
Potact your self she thought.

I hope he's nice I don't want to make enemys she shivers at that thought of making
Enemys but she trys to act nice she is nice but sometimes she can get angry but
She hates when that happens. but she walks up to the man with one hand out
Stretch and the othere was on the hilt of the blade.

She likes meeting people from imythess and all the ones where nice to her
So far and shes happy about that.

Konahomaru almost struck the poor woman with lightning when she seemed to have popped out of nowhere like that. He relaxed his muscles, and returned the smile. IT was hard, considering he almost seriously hurt her, but she probably didnt know that in the first place anyways.

"I am Konahomaru." he said, not taking her hand though. Not necesarily a gesture of rudeness, Kona just didnt see the logic in it. Another human part of him still missing. Damned demon mage... Nevertheless, this woman may need something from him.

"May I help you, or are you just being freindly?" he asked, noticing she had her hand on her sword. She obviously was being very cautious. Perhaps she was new here. Everyone in Taras knew who Kona was, the last Gaurd of the City. The rest had left or been killed.

Still, you could never be to carefull. Kona folded his arms, gripping the daggers that were sheathed on his wrists, ceverly hidden under his coat arms. So far he had never had to use that trick, and hoped he wouldnt have to hurt such a nice young lady. However, people do make foolish mistakes.

" Freindly Konahomaru." Hymwen said she smiled and removed her hand from her Sword and says " where do you came from Konahomaru if you don't mind my ask
I just wish to know but you don't have to answer if you don't want too." her thoughts
Turned to her brothere but she trys to think of Konahomaru.

" I come from fakaver a land far from imythess and I lived in a village in fakaver
Elves live with humens there also and you may have saw that am a woodelf." she Smiled and she waited for a answer and thought of her brothere if he is ok.

The second time in his life he was asked about his history. The first time he trusted that person he told it to, but did not trust this person whatsoever. They had only met. So Kona would give her the typical introduction.

"Well, I am a Half-Celestial, and I was born in Celestia. I cam down here becuase I wanted to fight evil, mainly against Ranewen and her forces of darkness. Im a Servant of the Blade. That means im Veronna Darkblade's servant and chosen one. She is the Goddess of Blades."Kona explained. It was simple for any person to digest. Also, did not reveal much.

This conversation was almost refreshing compared to the amazingly serious things he had been dealing with as of late. Fightning an orc, helping the Goddes of Blades, chasing out evil people from libraries. Certainly a change of pace.

" Goddess of Blades. I do not know who that. will I never met her I doubt I
Will meet her." Hymwen said she still smiled " am sure you still don't trust
Me but I can asure you that I don't kill aften I only kill to porotect myself and
Ranewen is evil is she a goddess." she smile. she hoped he din'nt mind all
The questions.

The war Ranewen started it the evil goddess. she shaked her head at that
Thought. she said " Konahomaru what have you heard about the war I don't
Hear much." she smiled. and waiting for a answer. she wonders how it is going
And if the people fighting for there lives are alright.

"Her invasion of Istan is nearly complete, as far as I know. It would have taken her much longer were it not for that I was unable to go defend the city. Or at least incurr losses in her army. Istan will be her breeding ground for evil Her base of operations. From their she will attack the rest of Imythess. I fear that she will succeed if Sargoth does not return, and the rest of Imythess remains careless." Kona said, dissapointed about the events.

"If you stay in Taras long enough, you may meet Veronna. I met her by chance, to be honest. And now look at me. I encourage you, that if you meet her, to learn from her. She has much to teach." he continued.

Talking to this young woman was becoming more and more relaxing. Kona was beginning to understand just why humans talked so much about things that didnt matter, talking about things that do matter but no actually doing anything about them. The latter part bothered him more than the first.

Hymwen looked down at the ground about learning from Veronna and said " she teached
You how to fight I suppose." she looks up " I don't like fighting I try to be nice Sometimes i'm not nice and I killed a person... I didnt mean to but I couldnt stop..." she Looked up at Konahomaru " I don't want to fight but sometimes I have too. I only fight Evil or good when I have too. Veronna must teach more then fighting." her thoughts Turned to the war how the invasion of Istan is nearly complete she hoped that Ranewen Losed but Its just a hope.

" I bet your wondering why I don't like fighting." Hymwen said looking at the ground
Thinking about the dragon attack and hoped that there was no more.

Konahomaru could see and feel that she did indeed fear fightning. But couldnt tell what for. It bothered him a little. Had she killed som important person in the past? Or maybe she just wasnt hardened to death. Fighting when only necessary made sense, Kona tried also to follow this philosophy. Although sometimes he did fight with Veronna for fun.

"Well, I knew how to fight before I met Veronna. But she refined my skills, and taught me a few things. What do you mean by not nice? Do you get angry and loose control?" Kona asked. Truly something about this girl was troubling.

"Its ok if you dont want to tell me. There are many things about myself I never tell even my closest freind. However, I may be able to help you. If you mean an evil within you, I too have an evil inside. Perhaps it is similar in that respect?"

Yes. Uramo, the deepest core of evil inside him. Manifest by the parts of his humanity and power taken when he was sent to assassinate that mage. Uramo not only lived outside of him, but within, and at times took control of him. So far, he had always been able to control it.

" No evil just anger... anger at dragons. a dragon attacked the village I lived
In and it killed my friends all of them... I have nightmares every now and then
But there always about my friends dying over and over." a tear tickled down
From her eye but she wiped it away " on my journy to imythess a man came
Toward me at a tavern and said they don't like elves and if I didn't leave they

They came over to the spot I was at and... I stand up and pull out my sword
And kill them all I got angrey that day it was the first time I felt it I was afred
Of it... the next day I continued my search for my brother." Hymwen felt sad
From killing someone out of anger she used to kill people in bar fights and
Didn't care but now she does.

After awhile she says " have you heard about someone called havax darkstar
He's my brother." Hymwen hoped that Konahomaru did know but he probly
Does'nt know. " you help me... you can't help me in less you can get rid of
Anger."

Konahomaru understood. He had seen situations like that many times before. When he was in the army, he had seen entire families be wiped out, or survivors made unable to start the family over again. They were disturbing at first, but he became hardened after his own freinds and family were killed or captured.

"I havent heard of your brother im afraid, but I can help you young one. I understand your pain more than most would. I no longer have anger, and I can teach you the same. Your anger will be replaced with righteous fury, something only used when the time is right. I will teach you discipline, so that you kill only when necessary and rather disable your foes."Kona said, he could feel her sadness welling up in him. Indeed it was a familiar feeling.

The girl was indeed elvish, which he had not noticed before. And another unusual thing. She struck him as beutiful, something he never felt. Kona never even fully realized the aesthetics of more buetiful women. But something about this girl was important. He shook the feeling for now. Perhaps later, he would meditate on this.

"So, as of yet you have not told me your name young one. May I ask what it is? I can hardly refer to you as 'girl' when I am teaching you."

Hymwen smiled and said " i'm hymwen darkstar am a ranger and i'd love to
Be teached that." Hymwen loved the idea since she didn't like killing but this
Will help her with it and with her fear of it. " so when and where would you
Like to start teaching it doesn't have to be now... and i'm seventeen not that
Young. am happy that you don't mind teaching me." she smiled.

" Why are you out at night. just wondering." Hymwen said.

Kona nodded at the womans question. She was knew here, and didnt know his reputation. She would probably be more comfortable if she knew. But Kona could already see and feel her spirit calming. That was good. It was a shame to see someone so be... No. Stop. That is Uramo talking.

"I am out every night, Hymwen. I am the last remaining Taras City Gaurd. The rest were killed or left Taras. So I suppose, that makes me 'The' Taras City Gaurd. Unfourtanate indeed." Kona explained.

Hymwen flinced about hearing the word killed but said " there has to be
One I mean there can't be just you can it." he can't be the last one Hymwen
Wondered.

She smiled " I suppose you are the last one I haven't seen anyother Gaurds around.
I should trust your word I suppose. why every night why not the day." Hymwen
Asked. it was odd she seems to run into people that becomes friends and that

"Well, I only patrol this area at night becuase ironically there is more crime in this area of the city at night. In the other areas, where there are gangs, they dont hide their actions." Kona said.

"However, I will have time for you. Perhaps I can train you to be a City Gaurd as well? Maybe. We will see how well you do at first." He continued.

Having another gaurd to help protect the city would be nice. Kona had gone 4 days without sleeping now, and was starting to feel the effects. Even though he was part celestial, he was also part human an required sleep every now and then.

"Come, lets leave here. There doesnt seem to be any crime going on right now, and I doubt there will be as long as we are here." Kona said, beckoning Hymwen to follow him. He set off on a brisk pace towards the arena.

Becoming a city gaurd. Hymwen whould like to be one " alright."Hymwen said
And ran to cacth up and soon at Konahomaru side. " Konahomaru how do
You become a city gaurd I will like to know." Hymwen looked at Konahomaru with smile.
She hope its not hard to become one.

She looked around it seemed like no one lived in the city anymore. then she
Looked back at Konahomaru " how did you become a gaurd Konahomaru I
Hope you don't mind my ask." Hymwen was hopeing to get to know him

"Well young one, when the City Gaurd used to be more than one person, their were small buildings spread throughout Taras so that they could cover the city effectively. These were sometimes called 'stations' or 'Gaurd Houses'. Some of them were watchtowers on the city walls. I went to the one inside the arena, which is where we are going now." Kona explained. They were now closer, and the massive arena could be seen peeking above all the houses and shops.

"That is the Taras Arena. It used to bussle with activity, but not as much anymore. It is where I first met Veronna as well." he said, as they got closer. "I do not know if it is in my power to make other people gaurds. I am the chosen of Veronna, but I dont want to assume power I dont have. So I wont make you one yet, but I can still train you." Konahomaru explained some more.

Certainly assuming too much power was a bad thing indeed. It was a great way to not get anywhere in life, and he had experienced it once too. The reason why he was just a Captain when he used to be in Celestia's army. Now would not be a good time, becuase the war was not near Taras yet, and he was in direct reach of a goddess. Not that he would had that not been the case.

Hymwen watched Konahomaru when he was talking " I suppose you don't
Have the power to make me a gaurd and I don't know if I will be good to be
A gaurd." Hymwen looked around and then look back at Konahomaru and
Say " who does have the power to make people gaurds." arena Hymwen
Had never been there but now she is with someone that is going to teach
Her how to fight better.

She knows how to fight since she fighted the dragon fights pretty good but
Since the dragon came she feared it.

Kona stopped in his tracks. He turned around, and grabbed Hymwens shoulder firmly. "With that attitude, you never will become a good fighter. You must be willing to be better than anyone else, and be determined to get there too. Better than me even, but do not let it consume you either. This will also help your anger. but do not fret. After I am done with you, you will be the 3rd best sword fighter in Taras. Are you ready? Tell me what I want to hear young one." Kona said in a stern, commanding voice.

He took a step back, and waited for her to respond.

" Am not better then anyone and I never will be don't you understand that Konahomaru
Do you understand what it is like to lose friends you care about no I suppose not." there
Was anger in her voice. Hymwen was looking at Konahomaru when she was talking.
" I... I didn't..." her voice want softer when she noticed that there was anger in her
Voice. she looks at the ground and say " I... I don't know if I am ready." after awhile
She said " you want me to say yes but I can't... I want to say yes but I still can't."

After awhile Hymwen looked up at Konahomaru " I'm sorry but I will try to make you
Happy even if I don't become a gaurd. I will be a willing stundent if you will still teach
Me." Hymwen said she almost got angrey again but she didn't let it get to her. " I can't
Say what you want me to say." Hymwen said and waited for a answer.

"You are right. I cannot make you say anything. But, you truly want to say it. Do you not? Yes. You do. You just do not beleive in yourself. This time Hymwen, do not quell your anger. Let it go against me. Show me what this anger is, for there is more than one kind of anger." Kona said. Then he realiszed she woul not just, 'get angry'. She would have to be motivated.

"I suppose not afterall. Weakling! I cannot beleive I wasted my time on you! You probabably cannot even handl that sword! I should take it from you." kona said, as if scolding a child. He started to reach for her sword.

" Weakling." Hymwen said. she backed away when Konahomaru started to reach for Her sword and when she backed away she put her hand on her sword and her eyes Flared with anger " I am no weakling Konahomaru." there was anger in her voice.
" Do I like a weakling to you or something am I a fool now its your scum that I hate They always think there better then anyone else." Hymwen said with rage.

She was wondering why he was like this he had said to have her anger go towards him
But she doesn't want to. he had called her a weakling she hated to be called a weakling
She doesn't mind being called scum or fool but weakling. she pulls her sword out and Look at Konahomaru with eyes that was filled with rage and anger " you scum should
Never live to see the day again." Hymwen said with anger.

Kona pulled his hand back when she drew her sword. No lost limbs would be necessary tonigh. Then he started to chuckle at her. "I would not be so foolish as to think that I am better than you, young one. I AM better than you. Dont you want to show me im wrong? Come now! I know you want to strike at me!" Kona said, taunting her further.

Learning about her anger. She feared being weak, and when accused became angry. She feared mans ridicule. A common worry among humans. He would soon fix that for her, and get to the root of all her problems. Soon she would be serene, only using her fury in rightous ways like himself.

Hymwen looked at Konahomaru doesn't he want to defand himself or just stand
There well he use a spell or pull a weapon out fast and attack. Hymwen is a elf
She is fast and graceful she could go fast and maybe get him. her eyes flared
With rage. " fool." Hymwen said to herself.

She charged at Konahomaru with her sword in front of her. Hymwen was ready
For what probabably will happen.

She let her anger come out. it felt like her anger ruled her body.

Kona could feel the anger in her pulse throughout his body as he read her emotions. Yes. It was a divine fury. Unbidled however, and very dangerous. If not controlled, it would cause her destruction. She was fast as well, slightly faster than Konahomaru had expected. However, this was not entirely surprising.

He had expereince with drow speed, and drow were related to elves. It only made sense. Quickly, Kona drew his masterwork daggers and block her sword with them. She continued to push against him, but was not strong enough.

"Yes Hymwen! Let it flow! Release your anger! Do not let it corrupt you! It is pure and just, rightly so your anger is toward me. I had mocked you, and now you seek to punish me. However, you are holding back! How can you hope to defeat crime in Taras if you have mercy for the criminals? Only give mercy when they earn your forgivness." Kona said, tutoring her as he felt the anger leaving her. She was beginning to understand now.

Hymwen pushed harder and harder but he was to strong. her anger bhulided up
It was strong. she was breathing harder and started to sweat but her anger keeps
On coming. Hymwen lefted her foot kicked at Konahomaru's leg then when her foot
Was back on the ground she pushed harder hoping that he will lose his footing.

It felt like her anger was leaving but it wasn't it was coming stronger then ever
In her life and she trying to keep it under contrelled. " I will not give mercy
To criminals." Hymwen said with anger. he was mocking her so she could
Release her anger on him.

She was trying her earnest, but she didnt realize her full ability just yet. The effor was sincerly appreciated, and when she kicked at his knee he saw how smart she could get. Konas knee buckled slightly, throwing him off balance a little. He regained it quickly, but it was a good move nevertheless.

"Good! You are getting closer to your goal. But I fear you are too weak to topple me. Examine my weakness in my footing! Look for something that will gain you ground. An off balance opponent can only win a fight be sheer luck." said Kona, welcoming the pain in his knee.

Kona started to gain on her again, and could see that her sword was dulling against the superior quality of his own blades. She was pushing much harder than he thought. Had he really become that strong? He didnt beleive it.

"Come young one! How can you hope to fight off a mere theif?" he continued. She was understanding more now, becoming calmer, and yet more angry with every passing second. "When you fully understand, only then will you be able to have a killing stroke at me." he said.

" Weak you will see what I can do." and with that she steped back fast then swing
At his legs then at chast then lange at his gut when she was done with that she
Brungs her sword over her head and swinged down at his head.

Hymwen felt strong but knows that Konahomaru is stronger but she keeps going
She will not stop till she was dead or when Konahomaru falls.

" Do you like this making me angrey. do you mock aften is this how you teach
I suppose so." Hymwen said but her voice sounded like she was someone else.

Rage she had felt it before but this was stronger.

Kona jumped back, and raised his Shield of Faith. Each blow had an immense power to it, but also immense emotion and feeling. She was letting go of her anger now, and understood it almost completely. Kona smiled at the buetiful young elf, raining blows at him. She wsa pretty when she was angry. That was Uramo talking again. Where was that bastard anyways?

"I do not enjoy impuning your honor, but I see that it is doing the needed thing to get you to understand. Now Hymwen, if you will please explain to me, what is it your feeling now? How is this different from your previous anger? Speak truth to me! I will no if you hold back." said Kona curious to see what she called this new found state of mind. It was a state that Kona himself constantly resided in. But this came easy to him, through years of experience.

Konahomaru would have to take Hymwen under his wing for some time, and he enjoyed that. Passing on what he had learned to such a buetiful young elf.

" New anger." Hymwen said. she did not lower her sword. " its rage and anger it
Is like my last and still anger but my new anger is of being mocked and being called
Weakling its different that my last anger was at dragons my new one is of being
Mocked and called weakling my feeling is rage and anger." she said.

Hymwen felt tired and sweat poured down her face she had not fighted and used
That much enyge in a long time but she will not give up her gaurd.

" I hope that answer was what you wanted." said Hymwen.

"Stubborn child." muttered Konahomaru. "Hymwen, when you see a criminal, what do you think? What do you think when you see a crime happening?" Kona said. He wanted to learn about this, becuase it woud be important for what he was going to do next.

"Whenever I see a criminal, I feel mocked. I see a crime takeplace, and I feel it is a strike against not only my honor, but the honor of the rightoues gods. Of course, Ranewen would take pleasure in this, but that is a different story all together." continued Kona.

"Hymwen, do me a favor. Do no tell me what I want to hear. Tell me what you feel, what you know to be the way it is. Do not try to tickle others ears. That is how governments corrupt, criminals escape, and soceity dwindles." Kona stopped, and beckoned for Hymwen to sheath her sword. She would not need it anymore. Not now anyways.

Hymwen sheathed her sword "When I see a crime happening I wish I could do
something but I always think am weak." Hymwen looked at the ground. After
awhile she looked up "What you know to be the way it is." Hymwen mumbled
to herself.

"I don't know. comlacated." She said looking at Konahomaru. She didn't know
she.

She looked at the ground again thinking a way to put it. I don't know, I don't know a way to put it. Hymwen was thinking.

Kona was not surprised at her at all. He had learned about her enough to know what she would say. "You are only weak becuase you think you are. The most powerful thing any person can wiel is thier mind. It dictates whether they are strong or weak, what they can and cannot do. If you beleice you are strong, then you are. If you beleive you can do it, you will find a way to do it." said Kona putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I was once the same way as you, young one. When I was 18, I got recruited into the Celestial Army. I didnt realize what I would be in for. Not much later, a war was started between us and the demons. During that war, I learned everything about myself, that I will teach you about yourself. All of my freinds died, and all of my family disapeared or died. I had to deal with it. I had thought I was weak, becuase I could not prevent their deaths..."

"Am sorry about your perants and friends, but no one can stop death." Hymwen said bit of sadness in her voice, a memory in her head about her friends dying but she was trying to forgent that thought, she shaked her head a little then look upat Konahomaru
"I always wondered what a war was like, when I was younger I always whated to be the best sword fighter ever, but then the dragon came, since then I became a Ranger."
Hywen said.

"So if I think am strounger instand of thinking am weak I will be stronger then I think I
am." Hymwen said with a little smile.

Kona smiled back at Hymwen when she finally understood. "There is nothing wrong with being a ranger instead. Rangers are as honorable as sword fighters. I do not see your bow however. Did you lose it?" asked Kona, curious as to why a ranger would have a long sword but not a bow, or arrows for that matter. Maybe she had them at a tavern room she was staying in...

Nevertheless, she had learned a valuable lesson. That was good. However, Kona knew nothing about archery except for the basics. Knock the arrow, aim, pull string, fire. He had little skills in that area.

"I can teach you great swordfighting skills Hymwen, but im afraid if I cannot teach you anything about archery. I dont think I know anyone who has archery skills either..."

Hymwen laughed and say "I had a bow awhile back but I used it alot and it, will you may say it doesn't work anymore." Hymwen smiled.

"And I do know how to use a bow I just don't have one right now." She still smiled "so you do know alot about swords, and I would like to know more about swords, and I think it would be fun to learn from you, all the teachers I had to learn from where all annoying they would make sure I did it right." She said.

She remembered her teachers she had a long time ago, she had fun that time she and her friends would make fun of the teachers behind there backs.

"Good!" said Konahomaru. He had been itching to pass on what he had learned from all his years experience to somebody else. And he too was still learning in a sense, you could never know it all. When Veronna wasnt pregnant he had picked up alot from her. Now she was to tired taking care of herself so that the baby would be healthy. That was a good thing.

"Meet me at the Temple of Swords tomorow. Bring your longsword, I will teach you how to use it properly. Longswords are good weapons when your fightning against an armored foe, becuase you can keep your distance and wait for a hole to be exposed in thier armor." said Kona, now starting to get a little excited himself. That was a new one.

"I have to get back on patrol, Im sure their is a bar fight somewhere I need to settle down." he said, and then walked away. What a beutiful young elf she is... he thought to himself, as he rounded a corner and was on his way.
