Title: [p]Wandering the city
Description: Nightgazer

Romanus walked about the city after having just arrived a few minutes before. His sword was at his side, and some people shied away from him when they saw it, but mostly he was ignored. But he didn't mind. He passed an arena, and he decided he would go back to that later.

He was walking when he noticed in a shop window was a strange shaped necklace. He went up and looked at it for awhile, but eventually just kept on walking.

He noticed that many people were still giving him looks, and he rubbed his shoulder, where there was a brand. He knew no one could know about it yet, but he couldn't take any chances. Suddenly he bumped into a woman. "Sorry about that, miss......"

Today was not the best day of Meera's life. It was not exciting in any way and didn't seem to be shaping up at all. Instead, she found herself wandering down the streets of Taras. Her gaze drifted slowly from each vendor. She occaisionally bought things that she needed, rarely ever things that she just thought she might want. Right now, she only had an apple and a canteen full of water. Her plan was to stay here for the rest of the day, really having no plan. The other people that milled around her seemed to have the same plan in mind. They headed either towards the part of town where most people lived, or towards other vendors. They probably knew where each vendor set up better than Meera. After performing the same routine over a while, Meera could infer that this was deffinitely the case. At one part, she stopped to walk over to a vendor that was selling fresh flowers. Seeing a nice rose, Meera bought it. Smiling towards the woman that was running the stall, she said "just this one rose."

"Got some one to buy it for?" The woman questioned with a kind old smile of her own in return.

Meera shook her head, thanked the lady, then headed back into the street. She sniffed the crimson flower, than stuck it behind her ear. With a little more smile on her face, she headed out again. Hearing a sound, Meera turned behind her. Seeing nothing though, she turned back. It was too late though, a man was right in front of her hand she ran into him. Since he was larger, she stumbled back a few steps, almost falling over. To help steady herself, she instinctively reached out and grabbed the man's arm. Once still, she let go and listened to the man's apology. Shrugging, she said "Don't worry, I'm not injured."

He looks at her, studying her face. He thought she looked like someone he knew back home, but he realized that no one he knew could possibly be here. "But still, I should have been paying attention more." He noticed the rose behind her ear. "Pretty rose, someone get it for you?" He noticed that people were looking at them strangely, but he again could not understand why, so he just ignored them and looked back to this small woman. "Well, I am Romanus. I just arrived, so I know nothing of this land."

Meera shook her head modestly and said "it was just as much my fault as it was yours. I should have been more careful of where I was walking as well." She then offered him another smile while listening to him talk some more. At his question she admitted, "no, I just bought it for myself. It seemed so beautiful...." The thought of someone who would have bought it for her made her mind shift to her lover. Thinking of him brought a smile flush to her cheeks. Bringing her attention back to the man, she shifted her feet around so that they wouldn't become useless. When the man introduced himself, she followed his lead and said "nice to meet you Romanus, I am Meera. May I ask where you have come from, if not the wonderful town of Taras?" She was not born in Taras either, but she knew the streets almost as well as any forest. This was a town that she frequented. She had made many friends and memories here. In fact, no matter what, this town was quite a hard one to forget.

He smiled slightly as she told him her name. "Meera, that's a nice name." He frowned slightly though when she asked where he was from. "I'm from a far off land. I guess another world? I'm from Rome, but I was born in Byzantium." He smiled remembering the two cities, greatest in the Roman Empire. The impregnable walls of Byzantium and the beauty of Rome. "But tell me, what is this world like? It is so different!" He looked around at the strange shops with the items in the windows, wondering if it could all be real.
